Description

Patented May 11, 1920.
INVENTOR WITNESSES ATTORNEYS EDGAR STUART DOUGHTY, 0F RED WING, MINNESOTA. I
AMUSEMENT APPARATUS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 11, 1920.
Application filed December 2, 1919. Serial No. 341,867.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDGAR STUART DOUGHTY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Red Win in the county of Goodhue and State of l innesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Amusement Apparatus, of which the following is a specification. I
My invention is an improvement in amusement apparatus, and has for its object to provide a new and improved form of track way for use in connection with the mechanism of my prior Patent No. 1,302,642 granted May 6, 1919, for permitting the said trackway to be set up where desired and taken down, for transportation or storage, and for permitting the inclination of the trackway to be varied to suit conditions.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a side view of the improved trackway with parts broken away.
Fig. 2 is a rear View.
Fig. 3 is a section 011 the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
In the present embodiment of the invention the improved trackway is composed of two similar side plates 1, which are connected at regular intervals by treads 2, and preferably each of the side plates is comosed of two planks or sections as shown in Fig. 1. These treads 2 are arranged between the side plates, and are connected at their ends to the side plates in any usual or desired manner, as for instance by screws or nails 3 as shown. The lower corners of the plates 3 are beveled as indicated at 4: to fit smoothly on the ground or other supporting surface for the trackway, and near the opposite end there is provided means for supporting the said end elevated.
The said means comprises a standard 5, having at each end a cross head 6 and 7 respectively. The cross head 6 has journal pins 8 at its ends, and these pins 8 are journaled in the sides plates 1. The cross head 7 is adapted to rest upon the ground, and it will be noticed referring to Fig. 2 that the said cross head is of such length that it will fit between the side plates 1 when the standard is fitted between the side plates. The cross head 6 is connected with the side plates at such a point that it does not interfere with the folding of the standard flat against the treads. By varying the position of the cross head 7 with respect to the trackway, that is by varying the inclination of the standard 5 the elevated end of the traokway may be raised or lowered. If for instance the standard is placed perpendicular to the plane of the trackway the angle of the trackway to the horizontal will be lessened. The trackway is adapted for use with the vehicle indicated at 9 shown and described in my prior patent above mentioned- I claim:
In amusement apparatus, a trackway comprising a pair of side plates and a series of treads connecting the side plates, and means for supporting one end of the trackway elevated, said means comprising a standard having at each end a cross head, one of the cross heads being received be tween the side plates and having journal pins journaled in said plates, the other cross head being of a length to fit between the side plates when the standard is folded on the side plates, each of the side plates consisting of upper and lower sections.
