Wheel 40 is adapted to operate a dog 43 which is pivoted as at 44 to a -collar or carrier 45 which is pivoted on shaft 24. The mechanism for controlling dog 43 to render the draft-operated lifting-mechanism operative and inoperative comprises a slotted cam 60 which has its front end pivotedto one of the bearings 27 as at 61., and its opposite end connected .by a link 62 tog'tn arm 63 on a controller-shaft 64. vA segmental. slot ,65 in cam 60 is formed to guidestud 66 on dog 43 which rides in said slot, and when the dog is shifted by movement of the cam about its pivot 61, with the dog in its lowered position, the dog will be shifted into engagement with ratchet 40 and will remain in engagementtherewith until stud 66 is operated to disengage the dog by cam-surface 67 on the upper end of slot 65. Controller-shaft 64 has an arm 68 which is; connected by a link 69 to a slidable lockholding and releasing-bar 7 0 on a forwardly extending lowering-lever 71, which is fulcrumed at 71". Link 69 may be operated to operate controller-shaft 64 by a rod 72 which is connected to link 69 and to a controller-lever 73 which is pivoted to the front end of lever 71, as at 74. Link 69 is also operatively connected to the releasing bar by rod 72. When the plows are lowered in the soil and it is desired to raise them by the draft-operated mechanism, the operator will push the lower end of lever 73 backwardly which will pull rod 72 forwardly and cause link 69 to rock shaft 64- so that arm 63 on said shaft will operate link 62 to swing cam 60 into position to cause dog 43 to pass into engagement with the rotatingratchet 40.

The operating mechanism for the lifting connections exemplifies one in which power In the operation of the connection be-' tween the shafts 23 and 24: of the crank connections, the inner portion of lever 50 between the lock 51 and crank-axle 23 operates as an adjustable arm by which the relative position of the two lifting connections may be adjusted.
' The invention set forth which'the plowshare is rigid with a carry ing-structure which comprises members or beams fixedly secured together in spaced relation and whichis directly supported by lifting connections between the sides of the land wheel at one side and a furrow wheel at the other side and the invention exemplifies a plow of that type in which the lifting connections for the sides of the frame are connected together by suitable means so that the power lift mechanism will operate both of the lifting connections through the connecting means to simultaneously raise both sides of the frame.
It will be observed that the crank axles are shifted differentially by the power operated means and as a result the bottoms of the plow bodies are kept in substantially horizontal alinement, both when the plowsare, lowered and when they are raised, vthe differential movement serving to compensate for the additional movement necessary to bring the wheels which are at different elevations when plowing to the same elevation relatively to the frame when the plows are raised. I
The invention is not. to be understood, as restricted to the detailsset forth, since these may be modified by the skilled mechanic within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.

In a gang plow, the combination with a structure comprising members rigidly secured together and having a plurality of plowshares rigidly secured thereto and ground-wheels at the sides of the structure respectively, of a plurality of lifting connections between the structure and the Wheels respectively, operable to raise both sides of the structure, a power devicedriven by one of said wheels, means for Spe'ijating the lifting connection for the other wheel from said power device, and a cross-connection between the lifting connections for operating the lifting connection for the wheel which drives the power device.

frame-structure to which the plow-bodies are rigidly secured and ground wheels at the sides of the structure respectively, of supporting connections between the ground wheels and the sides of the structure which are adjustable to permit the structure to be raised or lowered relatively to the wheels, a rotary power-member at the lower end of one of said supporting connections operable by one of the ground wheels, and lifting mechanism for shifting the structure relatively to both of the ground wheels comprising a connection operable by said member between the rotary member and structure in addition to and movable relatively to the latter supporting connection when the struc-' ture is being shifted by power from said member. v

35. In a frameless plow, the combination with a pluralit of plow-bodies, a
frame-structure to-w ich the plow-bodies are rigidly secured and ground wheels at the sides of the structure respectively; of cranks between the wheels and the structure which are adjustable to permit the structure and plow-bodies thereon to be raised and lowered relatively to the ground-wheels, a rotary power member at the lower end of one of said cranks, operable by one of the ground wheels, andn echanism for shifting the structure relatively to both of the ground, wheels comprising a connection driven by said power 'member and movable relatively to the latter crank while the structure is being shifted'by power from said member.

In a frameless plow, the combination with a plurality of plow-bodies, a frame-structure to which the plow-bodies are rigidly secured and ground, Wheels at the sides of the structure respectively, of cranks between the wheels and the structure which are adjustable to permit the structure and plow-bodies thereon to be raised and lowered relatively to the ground wheels, a rotary power-member at the lower end of one of said cranks, operable by one of the ground wheels, mechanism for shifting the structure relatively to both. of the ground wheels comprising a connection driven by said power-member and movable relatively to the latter crank while the structure is F KANK E.
