To /r/mm. "it ymay #www/L.'
Be it known that l. n'rnin S. Dnnn, a
-eitr/.en ot the linited States', residing at 'Reading7 in the county oi Berks and State -ot` Pennsylvania, have invented eertain new and useful'improvements in Fuse-Plugs, ot' which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to'iniproyements in fuse plugs. sueh as are eommonly used in electrical /eireuits ln the plugs` now generally in use, a short pieee o'f i'usefwire is loeated7 and when this is fused. the plug has become useless and -inust he disearded and replaeed by a new plug. l
lt is my intention in the present invention. to sa ve the plugs. and to so construct them thri the renewal ot the i'use wire may be easily and rapidly aeeomplisjhed, thus utilizing the plug indefinitely. and by the mere insertion ol a new seetion of ius'e wire7 saving the eost ot' a new plug in very many instanees where heretofore they have been `disearded and new plugs used to replace them.
My invention eonsists ol'v a plug formed with a Jfuse wire opening through the body ot the plug. a serew ea'p to hold the tuse wire and seeure the eontaet atene end and a serew to hold the tuse. wire at the other Iend. whieh serew also forms the eleetrieal Figure l is a eentral. vertieal seetional view of my eoinplete plug.
Vig. is a viewfshowing the inner end of the plug. withthe i'use wire held in :position by the seiew. i
Fig. il is a detail view` showing the fuse wire with the disk attaehed to one end thereof. t i
ln the drawing. the numeral l designates the outer easing vor -jaeket oll -the plug. formed to serew into the ohjeet ou whii-h il' l5 t0 be used. und is the body pmtioiL which made ot poreelaiu. as usual.
The numeral -ldesignates a longitiulinal opening through the length ot the plug body, and in this opening` I plaee a fuse wire 5.-
This fuse is formed with a disk b, attached to one end ol the wire, and whieh disk rests upon the upper surtaee of the body.
Thel jaeket or easing 2 is formed with an upwardly .extending` internally serewthreaded projection 8, and into this projection l insert .a screw cap 9, which, whenl the eap is drawn tight7 seats upon the disk 6..
'lhe opposite end ot the fuse projects beyond the lower extremity ot' the body p01'- tion to permit its being engaged and held in position bya screw 10, adapted to enter i a tapped opening in the body portion 1.
The. opening l in the plug` is Iliade. ot an exaet size or diameter, s0- that it will reeeive a fuse no larger than the Capacity ot the plue. in ampe'res. .which is usually marked on the plug. Tn 'this manner, inueh time will he saved in trying to determine what iuse is required. 'as the opening will accommodate the proper'fuse without ques-l tion.l
t is evident from the above description, that, when the tuse wire is destroyed, it will be neeessary only to remove the' cap, withdraw the remains otl the destroyedy fuse. re-
plaee it by another. seeure the end by thev serew l() and replace the cap.y
The many ad valfitages that will aeerue from a deviee otl this eliaraeter are well realized by those versed in the art. and the more importantl ot these is the great saving.-
llaving thus t'ully described my invention. l claim: 'l
i'n-*a tusep'lue. the. combination with a body having an opening therethrough, a
