present invention to provide a device of the above mentioned character designed to be disposed so as to rotate in a horizontal plane while the blades are of a construction to insure of a rotatable movement of the device regardless'of the direction the wind is blowing.
More particularly the present invention contemplates the provision of a device of the above mentioned character constructed in the form of a wheel comprisin generally a hub, radially disposed spo es and blades mounted on the spokes and connected to each other in circular series, the blades being shaped so that the wind will strike themre'gardless of the direction in which it is blowing for rotating the wheel counterclockwise while actingin conjunction with the spolres is a fastening means for insuring of the maintenance of the circular series of blades concentrically of the shaft.
llt is a more specific object of this invention to provide a device of the above mentioned character wherein means is employed for bracing the blades; to also construct the blades so that those which are not engaged by the spokes will act as a means for bracing the others.
Among the other aims and objects of this invention may be recited theprovision of a device of the character described with a view to coi'npactness and in which the number of parts are few, the construction simple, the cost of production low and the efficiency high.
Uther improvements and novel details in the construction and arrangement of thevarious parts of the apparatus will be brought out more in detail in the description to follow, which for a clear understand ing of the invention should be considered in connection with the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, and wherein is disclosed for the purpose of illustration a convenient and satisfactory embodiment of the invention. llt is to be noted in this connection thatminor changes in the con struction and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the principle of operation of the various parts.
The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Referring now, more particularly to the accompanying drawings there is provided a shaft 1 on which is rotatably mounted the improved wind wheel comprising generally a hub 2 from which radiate spokes 3 the outer ends of which support a circular series of blades t. in the present instance each blade is formed from a single piece of sheet metal and comprises a body 5 arcuate in cross section from the inner end of which projects an inwardly extending attaching flange 6 having openings l therein, for a purpose that will presently appear. lilach blade is reinforced by means of an arcuate angle strip l which conforms to the inner surface of the body and the flange and is rigidly secured thereto approximately inedially of the upper and lower edges of each blade in connecting the blades to the till spokes, certain of the blades and the ad I jaeent brace strips 8 are formed with central openings 9 to permit of the disposition of the blades over the threaded outer end portion it) of the spokes 3. The remainipg blades are now positioned so that the blades are all positioned in circular series or in such a manner that the attaching flanges 6 contact with the rear face of the adjacent blade while suitable nut and bolt arrangements 11 are employed for engagement through the openings 7 and other openings 12 in the body portion 5 of the blades for retaining all of the blades in rigid engagement with respect to each other and also in circular series as indicated in the drawings. By the peculiar construction of and the means for connecting the blades together the outer curved portions 5 of the blades will be positioned so as to be struck b the wind regardless of the direction in w ich the wind is blowingfor insuring of the counter-clockwise rotation of the wind wheel.
To insure the maintenance of the cir- .cular series of blades concentrically on the shaft, nuts 13 are employed and are adjustably engaged on the outer threaded portions 10 of the spokes and are designed to be adjusted so as to bear against the outer faces of the blades for holding the blades against movement consequently insuring of a well balanced wheel.
It is believed in View of the foregoing description that a further detailed description of the operation of the invention is entirely unnecessary. Likewise it is believed that the advantages of the invention will be readily apparent. However, it is to be observed in view of the particular combination and arrangement of parts that a rotation of the wheel in a counter-clockwise direction will be effected regardless of the direction in which the wind is blowing.
