To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, Gnonen and .WILLIAM H. CoLBEn'r, citizens of the United States, residents of Wilkinsburg and Pittsburgh, respectively, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Toys; and we do herebv declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof.

Our invention relates to toysand more especially to thatclass of toys in which marbles or like spherical objects roll along inclined runways, each marble in its discharge from said runway acting through mechanism to release another marble, one of a number contained in a magazine, whereby automatically the marbles are releasedv one by'one and discharged through the runway.

The object of our invention is to provide asimple device of this character which is positive in its. operation and which is so simple in construction that it can be made at a lowcost. 1

To these ends our invention comprises the novel features hereinafter set forth.

The numeral 2 designates the base-ring which" may be formed of wire of suitable gage, or other material, the ring being of suflicient height to retain the marbles or other objects as they are discharged into the rin The upright 3 is mounted on the ring 2, and where said ring is made of wire, as illustrated, the ends of the wire are'turned upwardly as at 4 and the standard 3 which may be formed of tin or sheet metal of light gage has the sockets 5 at the lower end to receive the upwardly extending ends of the wire. By this construction the standard 3 can be detached from the ring for convenience in packing.

The lower end of the runway 9 is connected to the'standard iand at the lower end of said runway is the opening 11 through which the marble'is discharged into the ring 21. i v j It will, of course, be understood that we do", not limit ourselves to the particular form of runway illustrated, as this runway may be extended to form many different courses for the marble such as a-lo'op.

A tiltable-member 12 is pivotally mounted as at 13 in the standard 4 and in'such position with reference to the opening'll at the lower end of the runway 9 that a marble passing down the runway 9 will strike the tiltable member 12 in passing through the opening 11 and will act to tilt said member. j Y Y The tiltable member 12 has the lug or projection 14 extending throti'gh an opening 15 in the standard 4:, and secured to said lug 14 is the rod 16 which passes up through 'a guide 17 at the upper end of the standard 4. The upper end-of the rod 16 is bent inwardly and downwardly as at 18 to form a pusher to lift the marble from the seat or opening 7 when said rod is raised, while at the same time the bend 19 at the upper end of the rod and which projects up through the slot 8 acts as a stop for the succeeding marble as will more fully hereinafter appear.

When in operation the marbles or like ob jects are placed in the runway 6 back of the seat or opening 7, the marble in said seat or opening acting as I a stop for the marbles back of same. In order to start the movement of the marbles a marble is dropped in the runway 6 in front of the first marble resting in the seat 7 and this marble rolling down the runway 6 passes through the opening- 10 into the runway 9 and passing down said runway strikes the tiltable member 12 before passing through the opening 11 into the ring 2. The force of the marble striking the tiltable member 12 will tilt said member and accordingly the rod 16 will be raised and the pusher at the upper end of said upwardly moving rod will liftthe marble resting in the, seat 7 andsaid mar le will pass down the runway and in its turn Will tilt the tiltable member 12 and so release the ne-X-t marble which has moved" intothe seat 7 to be released by the action of the previously released marble striking the tiltable member 12.
