GAS-RANGE FRAME.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH ROY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gas-Range Frames, of
which the following is a specification, referconstituting a warming space or oven below the open burner frame. M
The primary object of this invention is to provide a frame for a gas range of the above described type, which. is relatively cheap to manufacture, easily assembled, and when assembled is rigid and efiective for the purose.
The object of the present invention further pertains to certain details of construction whereby the foregoing primary object is accomplished, which details will be pointed out hereinafter.
In the accompanying drawings- Figure 1 is a front elevation of a gas range which embodies my improved frame construction.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the frame shown in skeleton arrangement.

My i'mproved frame comprises front and rear band-irons 1, and end band irons 2. These band irons 1 and 2 are secured to the peripheral flange 3, of a bottom or base pan 4, the latter being preferably in an inverted position.- The band-irons are secured to the flange 3, preferably by suitable screw bolts 5, though rivets could be used. An upright L-angle iron 6 has its lower end 7 bolted through the lapping ends of the band-irons 1 and 2, and through the flange 3 of the base pan 4. 1

and its outer rear corner is bolted to the upper end of a rear banddron standard 25, the lower end of the band-iron standard 25 being bolted to the adjacent ends of the base bandirons 1 and 2, and to the flange 3, of the base pan 4, as at 26.
The open L-angle iron frame 22 has its ends 0 drawn tightly together and fastened.
As here shown, these ends are held by a lap-.
ping plate 27, which is riveted as shown to the horizontal portion of the frame 22. This plate 27 forms the double function of uniting the ends 0 of the frame 22, and acting as one burner hanger for the burners (not shown) that are supported within the frame 22. A second burner hanger 28 is riveted to the rear portion of the frame 22, as 7 shown.
Suitable burner manifold hangers 29 are bolted to the front end of the frame 22 and project outward to receive and embrace. a manifold '(not shown) for the open frame burners (not shown).

One feature of my present invention pertains to the specific. construction of slide-ways for these doors, which are bolted to and form part of the frame, and serve not only as guide-ways for the doors, but as stiffening membersfor the base of I open burnerframe the top of the cabinet 9 is formed by a suit the range. These guide-ways are formed from a strip of sheet metal and bent in W-form, as shown at 32. The front portion of the sheet thus formed of the lower guideway A has a widened flange 33, which in the case of the bottom guide extends downward and is clamped between the flange 3 of the base pan 4:, and the front lower angle-iron 1. The upper guide-way B has the W-form 32, and an upwardly extending widened flange 32, which extends along the inner face of the band iron 8 and is bolted thereto. The inner free edges of the W-form of both guide-ways A and B are stiffened by the double and lateral bends 34:.
From this it will be observed that the widened flange of the lower guide A extends downward, while the widened flange of the upper guide B extends upward. This W- form 32 and 32 provides two horizontal parallel guide-ways for the doors 30 and 31, whereby they are slidable past each other to permit access to all arts of the base cabinet 9 and at the same tlme enables the front of the cabinet to be entirely closed.
The range is provided with a sheet metal back 35, which extends upward back of the 22, as shown at 3'6, and
able inverted pan-shaped division wall 37. The side walls (not shown) of the range are formed of sheet metal and attached to the range ,frame in any suitable manner.

By reason of this fact after being bent, it has a tendency to spring open at the notched portion and it is essential to hold it tightly closed. This is accomplished by drawing the ends 0 to gether and holding them by the riveted burner hanger 27.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire'to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A gas range frame, comprising an inverted pan-shaped bottom, horizontal band irons secured to the flange of the bottom, a frame 13 having long and short arms, the lower end of its long arm connected to one corner of the base, a standard 6 projecting upward from the other front corner of the base, arecta-ngular open burner frame, havingits'ouzter front corner supported by the standard 6, a horizontal bar 8 connecting the standard 6, and the long arm of the frame 13, the upper edge of the bar arranged under the short arm 15 of the frame 13, and a rear standard for the rectangular open burner frame, substantially as described.
2. A gas range frame comprising an inverted pan-shaped bottom, band irons secured to the outer side of the depending flange of the pan, a frame 13 having long and short arms, the lower end of its outer long arm connected to one front corner of the base, the upper end of the frame .13 extending inward and having a downwardly extending relatively short arm 15, a standard 6 projecting upward from the other front corner "of the base, a rectangular open burner frame having itsouter front corner attached to the upper end of the standard 6, and its inner front corner about midway the short arm of the frame 13, a member 8 having its ends connected with the standard 6, and a long arm of the frame 13 with its upper edge under the lower end ofthe short arm of the frame 13, and a horizontal member 17 with its ends connected to the vertical arms of the frame 13 in approximately the horizontal plane of the rectangular open burner frame, for the purpose described.
3. A gas range frame of the typedescribed, having a cabinet at its lower end, parallel door guide-ways at the front edge of the cabinet, the guide-ways formed from a sheet bent into W form, and attached at the top and bottom of the front edge of the cabinet.
4. A gas range frame comprising a cabinet having sliding doors, double horizontally arranged door, guide-ways, the guide ways formed of a sheet bent into W form, one side of the W having an elongated flange for the purpose of securing the guide-ways in position, substantially as described.
5. A gas range frame comprising a cabinet provided with sliding doors, upper and lower guide-ways for the doors, the upper guide-way formed of a sheet of metal bent in W form and having an upwardly extending securing flange, and a lower guide-way formed froma sheet bent in W-form having at its front edge a downwardly extending securing flange, whereby the guideways are secured in position in the frame.
6. A double door guide-way for gas ranges made of an elongated sheet bent in W-form, the sheet at one side of the W provided with an extending flange, for the purpose described.
7. A double door guide-Way for gas ranges, made of a sheet bent in W-form, the
sheet having an extending securing flange;
sheet tightly engaging each other to form stiffened stems, one of the outer stems hav- 7 ing its outer Wall extended and fiastened t0 double horizontally arranged door guide- Ways at its upper and lower edges, each guide-Way formed of an elongated sheet bent in W-form in cross section, each stem of the W composed of two thicknesses of the sheet tightly engaging, one Wall of the outer stem pro ecting vertically to form a securing flange and the outer Wall of the other\ outer stem extending laterally forthe purpose described. 7 'In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature.
