IMPROVEMENT IN SKATE-FASTENENGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 133,314, dated November 26, 1872. I
To all whom it may concerm' Be it known that we, JOHN HUNTER and JOEL T. CHENOWETH, both of Denver, county of Arapahoe, in the Territory of Colorado, have invented a new and useful Improvement on Skate-Fastenin gs; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same,
reference being had to the accompanying .The spring Bis fitted to the bottom of solo A,
turned upward and curved inward, which presses the sole of the boot against and under the flanges a a. The spring can be moved out or in, according to the width of boot-sole, by loosening the screw D. The curved flanges a a and curved spring B have rough or rasp surfaces to prevent slipping of sole of boot, and to increase the gripe of flanges a a and spring B Spring B on rear end of skate is fastened under the heel-plate a and on top of stand E, Fig. 2. The spring 13 can be adjusted to suit the size of heel of boot by loosening the screw D and moving the spring back the required distance. The sole A can be moved to the right or left by loosening the screw d and moving the sole A, with slot I, so as to bring the iron runner into the position desired.
We claim 1. An improved skate-fastening, which will be light, strong, and simple in construction, inexpensive in manufacture, and reliable in operation, and which shall be so constructed that it may be firmly secured to the boot by a simple pressure of the boot against the springs.
