IMPROVEMENT lN DUST-CONVEYERS FOR THRASHlNG-MACHINES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 133,227, dated November 19, 1872.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, J A0013 B. HUNSBERGER, of Vincent, in the county of Chester and in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dust-Conveyer for Thrashing-Machines; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification.

My invention is intendedas an improvement upon the dust-conveyer for thrashin g-machines for which Letters Patent were granted to me June 11,1872, and reissued September 24,1872; and the nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of the various parts of a dust-conveyer, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referrin g to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a longitudinal vertical section of my machine taken through the center; Fig. 2 is a similar view of a part of the same on one side of the fan-case; Fig. 3 is a transverse vertical section through the center of the fan;

and Fig. 4 is an inverted perspective view of the cap or casing over the fan.

which the fan was placed, but in this case I dispense with said chimney or conductor and locate the fan-case Gr in the front end of the cap D, leaving a passage on each side of the same. These passages are each, by a horizon:

tal plate, b, placed across the center on the outside of the fan-case, divided into a bottom passage, a, and top passage to, both leading into the fan-case on each side of the horizontal plate. By this division of the passages on each side of the fan-case the two currents of dust from the front and back of the machine are kept separated, and will not interfere with each other; and they are only commingled after entering the fan-case, when they are at once expelled by the fan. The cap E over the front part of the machine is movable, and fits snug up against that part of the cap D which incloses the fan and fan-case. the fan placed and revolving in the case G.

The machine being in motion, the dust from the front part of the machine is drawn through the cap E, andpasses through thetop passage to on each side of the fan-case G, while the dust from the shaker G is drawn up through the bottom passage a on each side of the fancase, and into the same. From the fan-case the dust is forced by the fan through a spout, I, to the outside of the barn. This spout may be made of any suitable material, and carried out through either side of the barn, or through the roof, or down through the floor of the barn, as desired.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure'by Letters Patent, is-
