To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that LAn'ri-ron J OHN ADAMS a subject of the King of Great Britain, and resident of The Cottage, Heywood, near VVestbury, in the county of Wilts, England, have invented a certain new and useful Im movement in the springing of Vehicles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in the springing of road and other vehicles of the kind wherein the vehicle frame is attached to the axle by means of bell-crank levers arranged in pairs, the members of each pair being pivotally connected together, andwherein a spring is provided to resist relative movement of these levers.

According to this invention, in order to maintain the thrust plates for the spring in constant alinement, the thrust plate attached to one of thelevers is pivotally connected "thereto by eyebolts swinging about an axis which passes through the spring transversely I to the axis of the latter. The pivots on which the said eyebolts turn are constructed similarly to the knife edge bearings forthc beams of weighing scales or balances, so
'that there is a rolling instead of a rotary contact between these parts whereby efiicient working of the springing construction will not be prevented byrust and the necessity for lubrication is avoided. The eyebolt pivots are carried'by a yoke which is formed as an extension of the cap holding one of the levers on the axle casing of the vehicle to which the improved springing is fitted. v
Preferably, the bushes at the extremities of the levers, through which the pins attaching the levers to the vehicle. frame are passed, are made of a barrel-shape so that they can'rock in the eyes at the ends of the levers and are therefore self-alining, thus preventing the transmission of any lateral bending stress to these levers.

What 'I claim is 1. A springing for vehicles comprising in combination two levers arranged end to end, a single pivotal joint connecting the said levers at their adjacent ends one to the other, means for connecting the said levers to a vehicle frame at their remote ends, means carried by one only of the said levers for attaching this lever to an axle casing, said axle casing lying in a vertical plane parallel to the plane in which is situated said single pivotal joint, an arm projecting from one of said levers, a yoke projecting from the other of said levers, and a spring interposed between said arm and said yoke projecting respectively from the said levers.

A springing for vehicles comprising in combination two levers arranged end to end, a single pivotal joint connecting the said levers at their adjacent ends one to the other, means for connecting the remote ends 7 of the said levers to a vehicleframe, means carried by one only of the said levers for attaching this lever to an axle casing, an
