F|G E -META TESKE, OF UNIONVILLE, MICHIGAN.
DRYING-FRAME.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented. Feb. 24, 1920.
Application filed July 12, 1919. Serial No. 310,319.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, META TESKE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Unionville, in the county of Tuscola and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drying-Frames, .of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to frames for drying waists such as worn by ladies; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of the parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front view of the drying frame. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is a detail view of one of the clamps, drawn to a larger scale, and showing also a portion of the frame.
This frame is specially adapted for drying waists made of crepe de chine and georgette, which would be injured if ironed in the usual way. A framework is provided having a main rectangular portion 2, and
two arms 8 which project horizontally at its upper end. The frame is formed of light material which will not oxidize or rust, and it may be formed of rods or wires suitably braced together to make them stiff and rigid. A hook or other fastening device 4 is attached to the middle part of the top of the frame'to hang it from any suitable support.
The garment is slipped over the frame while in a wet or moist condition, and the arms of the garment are stretched longitudinally of the arms of the frame and are secured to them by means of clamps 5.
V the garment contracts The clamps 5 are provided with tightenling screws '6, and they secure the cuff portions of the sleeves of the garment to the end portions of the arms of the frame. Pads or strips 8 of smooth or soft material of the frame, and the clamps have similar protecting pads 9, so that the fabric will not be injured by the pressure of the clamps.
A similar clamp 10 is provided for securing the bottom portions of the garment to the bottom portion of the frame, and has tightening screws 11. The garment is stretched, and is secured to the frame by the clamp 10. The clamp 10 has protecting pads 12, and the frame has similar protecting pads 14. The material or fabric of as it dries, and it dries under tension. When dried on this frame the garment is free from wrinkles and creases.
What I claim isi The combination, with a drying frame comprising a body portion, and arm por tions Which project laterally from the upper part of the body portion, of removable clamping plates arranged on opposite sides of the end parts of the said body and arm portions, and bolts provided with thumbnuts for clamping the said plates in place to permitthe garment stretched on the frame to dry under tension.
In testimony WllQIBOf'I aflix mysignature.
