WATCH-ROLLER REMOVEB.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 24, 1920.
Application filed January 27, 1919. Serial No. 273,401.
The object of my invention is to provide a simple, inexpensive and adjustable rollerremover which is adapted to remove the roller of a large size or a small size watch safely, instantly and without disturbing any delicate part of the balance wheel and the balance staff to 'which the roller is tightly fitted.
This roller-remover is an adjustable tool, he two jaws of which can be readily adjusted between the roller and the arm of the 'balancewheel, the outside faces of the two 5 jaws of the tool contacting the back of the roller, so that by striking with a hammer the op of the tool on a conical stump havinga very small hole to fit the pivot of the balance staff and safeguard the same, the roller can be removed from the balance staff easily and safely.
The nature, characteristic features and scope of the invention will be more fully understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming part hereof and in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the roller-remover of the invention. *ig. 2 is a perspective view of a modification of the same. Fig. 3 is a side view of the tool of the invention. Figs. 4 and 5 are the back and the front views, respectively, of the tool of the invention, from which the screw-bar and two screw nuts are removed. Fig. 6 is a plan view of the two curved jaws'of the roller-remover.
Fig- 7 is a plan view of the screw-bar 8 removed from the roller-remover of the invention, which is taken on an enlarged scale to show the square shoulder 18.
Similar reference characters refer to similar parts in all the figures in the drawings.
Referring to the drawings, in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, two parts 4 and 5 are. riveted together by rivets 11, 12. The portions 9, 10 and 14, 15 of the two parts 4 and 5 are reduced to increase the flexibility of the tool.
said two parts t The screw-bar 8 having the head 16 and a square shoulder 18 close to the head 16 is fitted into the square hole 13 on part 5. The screw-bar 8 loosely passes through the round hole 17 ,on the part 4. The screw-nut 6 is fitted to the screw bar 8 and against the square shoulder 18 close to the head 16 of the screw-bar 8, thus tightly securing the screwbar 8 on the part 5. The screw-nut 7 is fitted to the screw-bar 8 contacting with the part 4 externally. By turning the screwnut 7 the jaws 1, 2 are adjusted to open and close as may be desired. The two curved jaws 1, 2 have sharp edges, and theslot 3 is provided to protect the cement of the rollerjewel when removing the roller from the balance staff.
Having thus described my invention what I desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States and claim is: l
1. A watch-roller-remover tool comprising two parts 4 and 5 riveted together by rivets 11, 12, said two parts 4 and 5 having two curved jaws 1 and 2 with sharp edges vand the slot 3, the portions 9 and 10 of said two parts 4 and 5 being reduced increasing flexibility thereof, a screw-bar 8 having a head 16 and a square shoulder 18 close to said head, being fitted to a square hole 13 on said part 5 by said square shoulder 18 of said screw-bar 8, said screw-bar 8 passing through a round hole 17 on said part- 4, two screwnuts 6 and 7 fitted to said screw-bar 8, said jaws l, 2 adapted to be adjusted by said screw-nut 7, said tool adapted to remove the roller of a watch from the balance staff of said watch, all substantially as set forth.
2. A watch-roller-remover tool adapted to remove the roller of a watch, said tool comprising two parts riveted to each other, said two parts having two curved jaws, said jaws having sharp edges, one of said two jaws being slotted at the middle, a screw-bar fitted'on said two parts, said screw-bar having a head and a square shoulder close to said. head, a screw-nut fitted to said screwbar and against said square shoulder, said screw-bar passing through the second of rough a round hole, an other screw-nut fitted on said screw-bar and contacting with said second art externally, the lower portions of said two parts being reduced to increase flexibility thereof, all substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
