The fan motor support comprises a base 1 and an arm Qprojjectmg from the base and having connection therewith in any way. While the base l'may be of any construction; it is shown as consisting of a ring. The arm 2 may be of any formation and secured to the base in any manner. As indicated in the drawing, a

The extrem'itiesofthe holder 5 are-flared to facilitate theentrance of the fan motor 6 into the holder when placing such motor in position. The holder 5 is resilient and automatically grips the fan motor after the latter has been pressed between the flared extremities of the vholder. To secure the fan motor in position and prevent accidental displacement thereof from the holder, a chain 7 or analogous connection is attached at one end to an extremity of the holder 5 and its opposite end portion is adapted to engage a notch 8 formed in theopposite eX- tremity of the holder. said notch engaging a link of the chain after the'latter has been properly engaged with the notch.

Ears 9 project outwardly from the closed end of the holder 5 and-are adapted to em brace opposite sides of the terminal portion of the arm 2 and said ears aretransversely pierced to receiv the pivot fastening t which passes through the eye provided at the outer end of the arm 2 in the manner hereinbefore stated. The pivot fastening 4 preferably consists of a bolt and its threaded end receives a thumb nut 10 which provides for drawing the ears 9 together so as to bind against opposite sides of the arm 2 and seminal portion of the brace 3, as indicated most clearly in Fig. 1, thereby preventing movement of the motor support after the latter has been properly engaged with the wall clip.

The fan motor 6 may be of any type holder in the manner set forth and shown -most clearly in Fig. 2. The fan motor may be adjusted to any angular position with reference to the horizontal by loosening the pivot fastening 4L and turning the holder 5 about the pivot fastening until the required adjusted position has been reached when the position of the fan motor may be.

fixed by tightening the pivot fastening 4 by turning up the thumb nut 10. If it be required to use the fan motor as a wall or bracket fan, the motor support with the fan motor attached to the holder 5 is engaged with the wall clip in the manner stated and indicated most clearly in Fig. 1 and with the motor support suspended in this manner, the fan may be adjusted to any angular position with reference to the horizontal in the manner hereinbefore stated.

From the foregoing, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it will be understood that the invention provides means whereby an ordinary ventilating fan may be utilized as a wall or bracket fan, or

as a stand or table fan and in entire use the fan may be readily adjusted to direct a current of air upward or downward as may be required. By shifting the position of the motor support, it is obvious that the current of air may be directed to the right or to the left, as occasion may demand.

What is claimed is: 1. In a supporting means of the character specified, a base, a combined arm and base formed from a single member doubled upon itself and having its end' portions bent in opposite directions and secured to the base, a holder and fastening means pivotallv connecting the holder to the arm and securing the holder in the required adjusted positions.

In supporting means of the character specified, a base, a combined arm and brace formed from a single member doubled upon itself and having its end portions bent in opposite directions and secured to the base, the arm having an eye at its outer end corresponding with the fold of said member, a holder and fastening means pivotally connecting the holder to the arm and securing such holder in the required adjusted position.

3. In supporting means of the character specified, a spring holder of substantially U-form provided in one of its terminals with a notch, and a flexible connection attached to the other terminal of the spring holder and composed of a plurality of links, said flexible connection engaging the notch of the holder at the ends of the links, said links being of a size to prevent movement of the flexible connection through the notch and forming an adjustable connection be tween the terminals of the s ring holder.
