My invention .relates to eye glasses, and

which are commonly made of tortoise shell or imitation shell and are attached on either side of the nose piece or bridge. The great hulk of these rims, althoughl known as shell, are in reality made of Celluloid .or similar cheap substitute. 0n account of its 'fragility land unreliableness, agold reinforcing ring is commonly embedded in the inner periphery of the shells of spectacle :frames to properly support and position the lenses.

forced rim, it is necessary' to split the rim at one point in its periphery so that it maybe sprung` apart, the lens inserted in the groove, and the ends of the split then fastened together again clamping the lens securely in place. This has been possible in spectacles, the rims being split at the outermost points of their peripheries Where the ear pieces or y hows are attached, but in eye glasses where there are no such attachments, the rims have not been split and therefore the use of gold reinforcing grooves or eyewire has not heen possible.

The object of my invention is to provide eye glass rims with eye-wire reinforcing, hy splitting-'the rims at the innermost points, where they attach to the nose piece, securely attaching the shell and this eye-wire to each other and providing for fastening together the ends oi.z the riin at the split in.` order to lhold the 'lens properly clamped in position.
