J. H. UHIVEANDY.
MILK PAIL HOLDER.
APPLICATION HLED JUNE 12. l9l7.
RENEWED AUG. 9. l9l9.

JEAN H. oaMANnY, or n'nannseuae, CALIFORNIA.
MILK-run HOLDER.'
I specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. as, rare.
Application filed June 12, 1917, Serial NOJ 174,343; Renewed August 9, 1919. Serial No. 316,495.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JEAN H. ORMANDY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Healdsburg, in the county of Sonoma and State of California, have invented new and useful Im rovements in Milk-Pail Holders, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to means for supporting a bucket, such as a milk pail, and the object ofthe invention is to produce a device of this character which shall be simple, readily supported upon the person of the milker, or arran ed upon the ground in a field for the mi king operation and which will at 'all times provide an effective support for the milk pail.
With the above and other ob ects in view the improvement resides in the construction,
combination and arrangement of parts set forth in the following specification and falling within the scope of the appended claims.
' In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a view illustrating my device' supporting a milk pail and arranged for conveying position upon a milker,
Fig. 2 is a view illustrating the arrangement of the device When the same is pos tioned in the pasture to support the pail during the milkingoperation,
Flg. 3 1s a sectional view through the holder, the stake and the bucket being in full lines.
, Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the device. As illustrated by the drawing the improvement contemplates the employment of two spaced fiat ring members 1 and 2 respectively, .the lower ring member being of a less circumference than the upper or outer ring, and these fiat rings are connected by spaced flat metallic members or straps 3..
Preferably the straps 3 are bent around the upper ring member so that the ends of the said straps engage with the outer face of the ring and the lower edge of the said ring,
, these bent portions, indicated by the numerale 4:, being secured to the ring.in any desired or'preferred manner such, for instance, by rivets 5. The strap members extend over the outer face of the lower ring member 2 and may be secured to the said ring 2 by able tapered peg.
rivets 6. The straps are extended below the outer edge of the said ring 2 in an angular or-radlal direction and engage a ferrule 7 which is disposed centrally with respect to both the rings 1 and 2. The downturned or bent ends 8 of the straps which engage the ferrule 7 are secured thereto by rivets or other suitable devices, and the ferrule is adapted to receive the upper and enlarged end of a peg member 9, the said peg engaging with the ends of the downturned portlons of the straps 2 providing for the-effective retention of the widened end. of the tapering peg 9 in the ferrule, so that the said peg is removably secured in the ferrule. This peg is adapted to be inserted in the ground of the pasture. Upon the ring 1 between two of the straps 3 is arran ed a bailshaped member or link 12 which is adapted to have secured thereto, preferably through the medium of snap hooks l3, belt members 14 arranged around the shoulders and if desired around the waist of the milker as illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawings. These belt or supporting members 14 may, through the medium of the snap hooks 13, be readily disconnected from the linkl12 of the pail supporting member during the milking period. The ring members are adapted to frictionally receive therebetween the pail 15, the bottom of the said pail resting ,upon the angular inturned portions of the straps 3.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:
1. In a device for the purpose set forth, two spaced rings, strap members connecting the rings, said straps having one of their ends looped around one of the rings and secured thereto, their opposite ends secured to the second ring member and extended angularly over the outer edge of the said member, a ferrule arranged centrally of the said first mentioned ring and connected with the angular ends of the straps, and said ferrule designed to receive therein a remov- 2. In a device for the purpose set forth, two spaced ring members one of a greater circumference than the other, straps spacing the rings, said straps having one of their ends bent around the larger ring and secured thereto, said straps contacting with the outer surface of the smaller rin and secured thereto, said straps having 1; eir ends extended inwardly of the said smaller ring and their extremities outturned, a ferrule receiving the said' outturned ends of the straps and connected with said ends, said ferrule designed to receive therein a removable plug and a link member slidable upon 10 the larger ring between two of the straps.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
