This invention relates to a valve grinding machine land has for one of its `objects to provide the device with means foi` frictionally driving the valve turning mechanisms in contradistinction to the machines now upon the market which either employ mutilated gears and pinions or pins and arms -for operating the valve turning mechanisms. Another object of this invention is to provide means for turning the valve or valve seat grinding'tool'in an alternate to and fro direction but turning the valve or valve seat grinding tool a greater distance in one direction than in the other.
Another objectk of this invention 'is to provide a iiexible connection vbetween :the drivin y seat grinding tool whereby the valve or tool may be readily moved in any lateral direction with respect to the driving mechanisms.
Another object ofthis invention is to pro- ,vide the flexible connection between the kdriving mechanismsy and the valve or tool with a telescopic connection whereby the bit for the valve or tool may be moved inwardly or outwardly ina longitudinal direction vwith respect tof the flexible connection.
Another object of this invention is to providea valve grindingjmachine which consists of feW parts, efficient and durable, and which can be sold upon the market at a nominal cost. f

Ther operation of the machine and the advantages attained thereby will be brieiiy described as follows.V The frame of the device is-preferably secured to the ceiling within a shop or building andthe engine or other suitabledevice having valves and valve seats to be ground is positioned substantially therebeneath and the power employed supplied to the driven pulley 7, which in turn t' will-revolve the lshaft- 6, the wheel 8 and its" Y flangessQ-and 1 0 in one direction. by the provision of the telescopic` connection within the hand-hold and between the outer end of the shaft 13 and the bit 22, the bit may be efficiently raised or lowered for effectually operating upon valves and valve seats lying in different planes.' Another advantage attained by this invention lies in the fact that thepinion 14 is frictionally driven which not only provides for the smooth rotation of the valve or valve seat grinding tool but prevents any sudden jerks should the valve or ,valve seat grinding tool encounter obstructions such yas'chips, gaps and the like, and again, by forming one of the flanges substantially half way around the circumference ofthe wheel 8 and the other ange substantially for one-third the distance around the remaining circumference ofthe wheel 8, the' valve or valve seat grinding tool is given an efficient toand fro Y movement and atthesanie time theY valve or Patent, is
