Be it known that I, WILBROD DORVAL, a British subject, residing at 64: Church avenue, Verdun, in the Province of Quebec, in the Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in R0- tary Steam-Engines; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and eXact description of the same.
The present invention relates to rotary steam engines, and it comprises certain improvements in engines of the character specified, as set forth in the following description, an embodiment of the invention being illustrated in which:

Fig. 3 is a top view of the paddle attachment.
Like numerals of reference'indicate corresponding parts in each figure.
In the drawings 1 is a supporting frame which is constructed to form the circular casing 2, and 3 is a central outwardly projecting sleeve provided on its inner face with preferably a cross bushing 4. 5 is a steam chest provided at the uppermost end of said frame 1, and 6 is the steam inlet. 7 is a slide valve here illustrated as on erated bv the lever 8. and 9 and 10 are the inlet and outlet steam channels which lead from said chest into said casing 2 and are formed within the wall of said casing. 11 is a steameXhaust preferably disposed in termediate of said steam channels 9 and 10 and adapted to communicate with said either one by means of the sliding valve 7.
12 is a cup-shaped member or drum provided centrally thereof with a sleeve 13 which is adapted to turn loosely in said sleeve 3, and 14% is the main shaft of the engine, which is fixed rigidly to said sleeve 18, projecting outwardly therefrom and is preferably journaled at its outer end in the bearing 15 which is supported by the bracket 16. 17 is a pulley mounted on said shaft. In the inner face of the wall of the casmg 2, at the top thereof, there is fitted a fiber friction plate 25 in order to provide a steam tight joint.
The operation of theinvention will be readily understood when it will be said that the steam as it enters the steam chest passes through one of the channels 9 and 10 according to the position of the slide valve and enters the steam chamber formed in the casing when it will strike the blades or paddles 22. The steam is discharged through the other channel and into the eX- haust pipe 11.
An important feature of the invention is the vanishing blades 22. Another important feature is that very little steam will be used owing to the rather restricted steam chamber.
Vhat I claim as my invention is:
In a rotary steam engine, the combination of a cylindrical casing having an inlet channel for the steam formed in its circumferential wall and provided at one side with an outwardly-projecting axial sleeve; a rotating cylindrical drum within said casing having an axial sleeve which fits within the first-named sleeve, the circumferential wall of the drum being eccentric with relation to that of the casing and being formed with a plurality of transverse, cylindrical apertures which open through the inner and outer faces of said drum wall; a horizontal drive shaft having one end fastened in the second-named sleeve; a cover secured to said casing; a pin fixed to said cover and projecting laterally inward into said drum in eccentric relation thereto; a slotted cylindrical bearing rotatably fitted in each of said apertures; a plurality of blades, one for each bearing, slidably engaged in the slots in said bearings, each blade being provided at its inner end with a collar which is loosely mounted on said pin; a steam chest mounted. upon the top of the casing and into Which both channels directly open, said chest having an inlet for the live steam; and a slide valve in said chest for controlling the passage of the steam through said channels having a steamv outlet Which is adapted to be brought into communication with either channel alternatively and which 3 7 opens through the adjacent Wall of the 10 chest; V r
