To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, RoY T. AXE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Windin -Roller, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to Winding rollers and has for its object a particularly simple and eificient'construction whereby a chain or cable which winds on the roller, is readily attached to the roller which chain or cable usually supports a window or other means; and the invention consists in the combinations and constructions hereinafter set forth and claimed. 7

In describing this invention, reference is had to the accompanying drawings in which like characters designate corresponding parts in all the views. I

Figure '1 is an elevation, partly broken away, of'a roller embodying my invention, the end portions of a chain attached to the roller being also shown, one end being'shown as attached thereto and the other as de tached therefrom.

The tubular body of the roller 1 is here shown as formed with an opening or openings therein near opposite ends thereof as the slots 4:, 5 and also usuallywith tongues, 6, 7 which tongues are struck up from the body of the roller 1 when the slots are formed, that is, the slots are left in the 'roller after the tongues 6, 7 are struck or cut out.
