Be it known that I, EDWA D B. CAMPBELL, a citizen of the United VStl tes,'residing at St. Louis, State of Misso i, have invented certain new and -useful rovements in Grinders, of which the fpllowing is a specification. l.
This invention relates to certain new and inders,4 the peculiarities of which will l e hereinafter described and claimed.

` the breaker plate may be adjusted by varying the location of the jam nuts on the threaded portions of the rods. Fig. 2 shows in dashed lines the drawn outward position of the breaker plate which is required when certain kinds of feed are supplied to the grinder. When the breaker plate has worn, or liner grinding is desired, the top is adjusted inward toward the hammers l; the apron-arched top of ,the breaker plate thus overhanging the hammers and piroted bottom end is adapted to deliver theI feed from the upper end of the serrated front into di rect path of the hammers. The apron and top of breaker plate thus take the place of a slide valve for regulating the size of inlet from the supply hopper above. Drawing the breaker plate outward allows more space for feed to enter'from the hopper and also increases the angle between the plate and the path of the hammers. Adjusting the plate inward reduces the supply opening and likewise diminishes the angle between the plate and path of the hammers, and ac cords with the lesser amount received from the supply hopper. This arched breaker plate does not require extreme nicety of fitting at the socket or the apron top` but ma)r be ground on the einery wheel where necessary; a tight tit is not necessary at the .sides of the breaker plate and tbe sides of the housing, as the projecting ledge L acts as a guard to direct the material awa from the sides. It will be noticed that the lower end of the breaker plate practically alined with the adjacent end of the cage.
