MULTIPLE-311W RUBBER-DAM CLAMP.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JAMES V. IVORY, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Multiple-J aw Rubber- Dam Clamp, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a rubber-clam clamp and consists in providing the same with multiple jaws auxiliary to the mam or regular aWs, the same being adapted to embrace a tooth at the anterior-and distal buccal or lateral walls or corners of the crown of a tooth, and also at the anterior and distal lingual walls or corners of a tooth. These jaws may extend even to the biting surface of a tooth curving over the enamel on this surface and they serve as an additional support in conjunction with the regular jaws as fingers enveloping the crown and clamping horizontally curving and somewhat perpendicularly curving upward and inwardly from'said regular jaws, thus positively supporting and steadying the clamp in position.

The invention is satisfactorily illustrated in the accompanying drawing, but the important instrumentalities thereof may be varied, and so it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the specific details shown and described, as long as they are within the spirit or scope of the claim.

V i I On the terminals of said jaws are .the auxiliary jaws 4 which rise therefrom and curve over and inwardly on their upper ends and embrace the anterior and distal buccal or lateral walls of a tooth or corners of the crown of a tooth, as shown in Figs.

1, 2,3, at, 5, 8 and 9, and they may extend over the biting surface of a tooth, as shown in Figs. 1, 2, 3, f and 5, and embrace the same, they being like the regular jaws subjected to the tension of said bow of the clamp.

In Figs. 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 auxiliary jaws 5 extend upwardly and downwardly to different degrees from the terminals of the regular jaws so as to embrace the necks and adjacent portions of the sides of the tooth, and embrace the same, and in all cases the auxiliary jaws serve in connection with the regular jaws as additional means for attaching the dam with a tooth, whereby the dam is most firmly supported and steadied in position.
