Be it known thatgEnivA'nn A, Summer, a citizen of the Unlted States, residin at Chicago, in the county of Cook and tatc of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Water-Heating Agparatus, of which the following is a speci cation.
My invention relates to ap aratus for heatlng water, adaptable articularly for railway cars, and more especlally for private cars, so-called, or other railwayc cars which are likely to be cut off, frointhe steam su 1y provided by the locomotive or the station steam line.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a water heating apparatus, suitable for railwaycars of this general type, which will be relatively simple in its construction and will serve tomalntain a supply of hot water for wash basins or other fixtures available for immediate use, whether the car be connected. up or not with a locomotive or other source of supply of steam. i
The invention consists in the novel as rangei'nents, constructions and devices to be hereinafter described and claimed for carrying out the above stated objects, and such other incidental objects as will appear in the following description.

The steam heatin device 18 consists pref erably of a cylindrical shell 35 on the ends of which are screwed heads 36, .37, into which are tapped the pipes 17, '13, respectively. It will be obvious that the steam heating device and the stove may be used at the same time if found desirable. The vapor regulator serves to supply the water heater with just enough steam to keep the water at the desired tem erature. A certain amount of steam will a ways pass through the circuit formed by pipe 38", steam heater 1 8, and ipe 44, to keep the tank and associated parts inclosed within the box 52 from freezing;
I claim:
1. In combination with a railway car having a train pipe. adapted to be supplied with steam, of alocal water heater of the stove type, a water circulating supply system, a steam heat" device adapted to receive steam from t e train pipe for imparting heat to the water circulating supply system,
and a water heating device forming part of said water circulating supply system arranged so that it will receive heat from the water in the localwater heater.
