Description

W. BEERS.
Improvement in Tire-Bending Machines. No. 132,045. Patented 0m. 3, 1872..
Fig. 2.
UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
WILLIAM BEERS, OF MILAN, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN TlRE-BENDING MACHINES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 132,045, dated October 8, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WVILLIAM BnERs, of Milan, in the county of Erie and State of Ohio, have invented a new and valuable Improve ment in Tire-Benders; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exactdescription of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figurel of the drawing is a representation of a vertical section of my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section of my invention. Fig. 3 is a detail view of my invention.
My invention has relation to the benders; and consists in the construction and novel arrangement of devices, as hereinafter described.
In the drawing, A designates the bench of the machine, supporting, upon the standards B, the shaft of the upper roller B, which is overhung to allow the tires to be easily removed. 0 O designate the lower or adjustable rollers, the journals D of which have their bearings in notches formed in the sides of hinged or pivoted pallets or jaws E. The latter are constructed with rounded journals F, having bearings in fianges G at the sides of the bench, and are adjusted by means of an adjusting-screw, H, passing through the bench, as shown, and supporting their inner ends. Two notches, d d, are formed in each pallet for each adjustable roller, to admit of the requisite adjustment laterally of the rollers, to correspond to their height or distance vertically from the upper roller.
Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The tire-bending machine, having hinged arms E, rolls 0 O and B, and screw H, combined and arranged in a frame, substantially as specified.
v In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM BEEBS. Witnesses: A
