srovnrrr'n ATTACHMENT,
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented @et 8, intra Application led 'oveinber L, 2.938. Serial No. 261,020.
To all whom t may y Be it known that l, Meer MoGnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Muscatine, in the county oi' Muscatine and StateV engaged when the occasion requires and with one of the members serving as al holder and a guide fora pin which not only prevents the stove pipe being pushedv within the chimney but also prevents movement of the attachment upon the pipe.
`With these and other objects in view, the invention resides in the novel combination and arrangemen;J ,of parts, which will be.
iereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.
particularly rEhe preferred embodiment of, the invenv tion has been illustrated in the accompanyingdrawings, although no restriction is necessarily made to the precise details of oonstruction therein shown, as changes, alterations, and modifications within the scope of the claim may be resorted to when desired.
ln'the drawings: Figure l is a iongitudinal'section tiirou h a portion of a stove pipe and showing t e same retained in an opening in a. chimney by the improved.k attachment which is also shownin section.
Fig. 2 is a view and elevation of the attachment removed from the pipe.
, Fim 3 is a view similar to Fig. 2 lookingr at the reverse side of the attachment.
' Fig. i is a view and elevation of one of the members'comprising a part of the at-` tachment.
Referring now to the drawing!1 in detail the letter A designates a portion of the chimney in the stove pipe opening of which is retained the portionof a stove pipe by the improved attachment 7.
The attachment 7 includes a ring 8 which is mounted upon the pipe 6 and has-secured to one side thereof the oset portions v9 of retaining strips l0. The strips l0 pass through the opening -and extend within the chimney, A., so that portion of the stri s may be bent, as at 10 to engage the inner wallloi the chimney.
A collar l1 is mounted upon the pipe 6 and has formed therein at diametrically opposite points openings 12 which register with openings 18 in the pipe 6 adjacent the ring 8. A curved and circumferentiaily entend-fv ing flange 14 is formed integrally with trie collar ll at one side thereof, and has formed therein openings 15 in line with the openings l2 in the band. Extending 'from the periphery of the flange 11i are tongues 1 6 and i7, the tongues 16, being arranged-l in pairs and like the tongues 17 are adapted to be bent over the ring 8 to lie between the and the outer face of the chimney A,
rin thus detachably connecting the band ll with the ring 8. Y
A headed pin 18 hasv a shank 1 9 which passes through the openings in the iange, the band and the pipe 6 do not only prevent movement. of the ring and band circumferentially and longitudinally of the pipe 61 but aise to prevent the pipe being pushed sufficiently forward through the stove pipe openingl to interfere with the draft through the pipe. y
When it is desired to employ the attachment for the purpose stated above the ring and band are connected by the tongues l@ and 17 and the strips are arranged within the opening 5 and adapted vto engage the wall 'of the flue to maintain ther-ing 8 in place. The stove pipe 6 is now arranged within the opening 5' and the pin 18 arranged in place to lock the attachment upon the pipe. l
From the fore oing description, taken in connection with t le accompanying drawing, a stove pipe attachment has been provided which may be applied or removed from the stove pipe 'for 4the purpose set forth.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is:
A stove pipe attachment comprising a ring disposed against a wall in encircling relation to the flue opening thereinI strips secured on said ring and extending" with in the tine opening and having tl miuals bent 'for engagement within t1 to hold said ring,r against {iisg-)laccio` stove pipe extending through said ri' said tlue opening. a collar disposed said ring and having its inner portion constltumg :L Hang@ bmu'mg against the stove pipe, the @nier portion of said coilzn: yllg' Hut against 'the ontmportion of said fing,
engaging the, 170:11' face of Suhl ling, :mai 54.5
curngglwafn' extending t'xl'ough Suid c01- ayfnf Said stove, pipe for lneventiug movemni; of said pipe. 10 n testimony Whe'emf "if afx my signaiure.
