Be it known that I, CLEMENs EHN- BoRN, 4a citizen of the United States, and a Cook, and State of Illinois, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements Spools, of which thefollowing is a' specifi-` and arrangements of l which is strong cation.

The preferred form comprises a central hub, of wood or like the usual` central -bore 6, and. provided at each end with an outwardly flaring conical-l projectionv 7 somewhatA smaller than the f body of vhub .-5 and -arranged with lthe smaller lend of the cone adjacent the' hub. ' \\.v lIn assembling the spool, one of the end y flanges 8 is securedk over each ofthe projections 7 at the ends-of the hub 5. This is done-by passing the central hub 10 over the andv then spinning the periphe'ry of said hub down intc--close and tight engagement with the periphery of the the parts into snu engagement with shoulder 1,4 of the hub 5. In such spinning, beads or depressions 13 are 'formed in the periphery of hub 10 and into vthe periphery of the corresponding projection 7, thus preventing turnin of the end ange with reference to y .of the spool. In this way spools, which are strong and durable in use, may be provided with great economy. While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into eii'ect, this-is capable of variationV and modification without Vdeparting from the spirit of the invention. do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth,'but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope-of the appended claims. j.

Having described my' invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure byLetters Patent is vI.
