MACHINE FOR BUFFING- INNER TUBES AND THE LIKE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CABSELL D. Hines, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Fort Worth, in the county of Tarrant and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in l lachines for Buffing Inner Tubes and the like, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in boiling machines and more articularly to machines for butting inner to ice and various articles; and the object is to provide machines which will be highly efficient in land'- ing inner tubes and fabrics of various composition, and to provide machines whichare readily adjustable to various widths and thicknesses of material and which will aid in feedinp material forward to be bufi'ed. Other ob ects and advantages will be fully explained in the following description and the invention will be more "particularly pointed out in the claims.

Figure 1 is a front elevation of the machine. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a side elevation, being the opposite side of the machine as shown in Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a horizontal section, taken on the line 4-4 of Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is a detail view, illustrating the eccentric bearings of the feed rollers, being shown on an enlarged scale.
Similar characters of reference are used to indicate the same parts throughout the several views.
The machine is provided with an upright frame consisting of members 1 and 2 which are braced by the cross brace 3 and also by the hood 4. The revolving buffer 5 is rovided with a shaft 6 which is journalet in the frame members 1 and 2. A ower pulley is rigid with the shaft 6 or driving the machine. Any suitable power may be used to drive the pulley 7. This pulley drives the buffer 5 and the pulley 8. The pulley 8 drives a cross belt 9 which drives the wheel 1 which drives shaft 31. The shaft 11 dri es a pulley 12. The alloy 12 drives the belt 13 which drives t e wheel 14 which drives the shaft 15. the sprocket chain 17. The sprocket chain 1'! drives the sprocket wheel 18. The wheel 18 is rigid with the shaft 19 for driving this shaft and the roller 20 which is the feed roller or hearing roller over which the material is passed to be operated upon by the buffer 5. The roiler 20 mi ht be driven too fast, that is, the action of t e bufl'er 5 might draw the material over the roller 20 too fast, causing the material to ass before snfliciently reduced by the bu er 5. This can be regulated to some extent by the roller 21 which is journaled in the upper end of a foot lever 22 which is fnlcrmned on the frame member 2. A spring 23 is attached to the frame 2 and to the u per end of the lever 22 and this spring wi I normally hold the roller 21 against the belt 13 to cause this belt to drive the wheel 14. A pressure of the foot on the lever 22 will release the pressure of the roller 21 on the belt 13 and thus stop the wheel It from turning. This makes the operation or turning of the roller 20 under the control of the foot of the operator. The feedin of the rubber tube or other material to t e roller 20 is regulated by a roller 24 which is journaled eccentrically in bearings 25 which are journaled in the swinging frame 26. A shaft 27 on which the roller 24 is mounted is eccentrieally mounted in the roller bearings 25. A crank handle 28 is rigid with the shaft 27 and by means of this handle 28 the roller 24 may be made to bear with more or less pressure against the material which is passing over the roller 20. The swinging frame 26 is loosely mounted on the shaft 15. A pulley wheel 29 is rigid with the shaft 34 and a cord or belt 30 is attached to the wheel 29 and extended over a pulley 31 which is mounted on shaft 15 and a weight 32 is attached to the end of the cord 30. By means of this construction and disposition of elements, the swinging frame 26 may be held in different positions. The frame 26 is provided with a handle 33 for convenience in movin this frame. The frame 26 is adjusted to ifferent positions bv means of cams 35 which. are r1 id with the shaft 34. A handle 36 is rigi convenience in lifting the frame 26 to different positions. When the handle or crank 36 is moved the shaft 34 changes the position of the cams 35 if th handle is raised and if the with shaft 34 for handle is lowered, the cams will be lowered and the frame will follow the cams downwardly. The weight 31 and the cams 35 hold the frame 26 in whatever position to which the frame is adjusted.
What I claim, is,-
1. A bnfling machine comprisinga rigid frame, a revolving buffer provided with a shaft journaled in said frame, a feeding mechanism consisting of a bearinr roller, means for adjusting said roller re ativc to said buffer, means for holding said roller in different positions, a cam-adjustable roller roiipcrating with said hearing roller, and means for driving said rollers from said shaft.

A balling machine comprising a rigid frame, a revolving buffer provided with a shaft jonrnaled in said frame, a feeding mechanism consisting of a bearing roller, a swinging frame carrying said roller, cams and a shaft therefor for adjusting said swinging frame, means for holding said ringing frame in different adjustments, a feed roller cooperating with said hearing roller, cam-actuated means for adjusting said feed roller relative to said bearing roller, and means for driving said roliers from said bufl'er shaft.
3. A huffing machine comprising a rigid frame, a revolving buffer provided with a.
shaft jonrnaled in said frame, a feeding mechanism consisting of a bearing roller, a swinging frame carrying said roller, camactuated means for adjusting said frame to different positions, a weight controlled means for holding said frame in different positions, and means for driving said roller from said bufler shaft.
4-. A bufling machine comprising a rigid frame, a revolving bufi'er provided with a. shaft journaled in said frame, a feeding mechanism consisting of a bearing roller, a swinging frame carrying said roller, camactuated means for adJnsting said frame to different positions, a weight controlled means for holding said frame in different positions, driving mechanism operatively connected with said buffer shaft and with said roller for driving the roller, and a foot lever fulcrumed on said frame and operatively connected with said roller driving mechanism for stopping and starting the roller driving mechanism.
5. A bulfingmachine comprising a rigid frame, a revolving buffer provided with a shaft journaled n said frame, a feeding mechanism consisting of a bearing roller, a swinging frame carrying said roller, camactnated means for adjusting said roller to different positions, a weight controlled means for holdin said frame in different positions, a fee roller, roller bearings mount-ed in said swinging frame, a shaft carrying said feed roller and eccentricaily mounted in said roller bearings, means for actuating said hearings to ad ust said feed roller relative to said hearing roller, and means for driving said rollers from the shaft from said buffer shaft.
