This invention relates to forms or molds for the erection or construction of concrete or cement walls, and has for its general object to provide new and improved means for conveniently moving the form as the erecting or building of the wall proceeds, in order to allow such erection or building to be performed as a substantially continuous operation.
In the drawings forming part hereof and illustrating the present preferred embodiment of my invention, F igure l'reprcsents a plan view, with certain parts broken away, of a cylindrical form having my invention applied thereto; Fig. 2 an enlarged, vertical sectional view corresponding substantially to theline 22 of Fig. 1; 3 a perspective view of one of the yokeswhereby the form may be moved; and Fig. 4a similar view of one of the nuts by means of which the form may be elevated.
The ,form illustrated herein comprises generally a plurality of hollow upright posts or ribs which form a support for the side edges of the inner plates of the form, there 35' being means associated with suchuprights for clamping the plates thereto; also a plurality of plates which may be connected to form the outer shell of the form or mold, there being horizontally extending 'ribs or liners which connect the upright posts or ribs. lVhile the form which is illustrated herein is a circular or cylindrical form, it will be understood that the particular shape chosen forthe drawings is merely illustrative and that it is contemplated that my invention will be used with other shapes of forms 7 or molds.

.the parts 15 and 16 being detachably connected to the posts in any approved manneras for instance in the manner disclosed in my copending application referred to hereinbefore. For the purpose of lifting the mold or form, as the work progresses, in a particularly convenient manner, I provide the following construction Certain of the vertical ribs or posts are connected by braces with the ribs or posts opposed diametrically thereto. In the drawing, all of the posts are shown as so connected. Each brace comprises a transverse tie member 18 and each of these tie members has suitably connected to the opposite ends thereof a supporting member 19 'which is shown as provided with a post or tenon 20 adapted to socket within the top of one of the hollow posts A. The outer end of each member 19 projects beyond its adjacent post and forms a support for the means whereby the form is to be elevated. The member 19 may be a casting, as indicated in the drawings, and may be connected to the tie member 18 in any approved manner; in the drawings the tie members are shown as projecting into and secured to sockets carried by the members 19. Each member 19 is provided at its outer end with an aperture which may be formed in a sleeve 21, said sleeve having a seat 21 at its upper side for the adjusting nut (to be described hereinafter). Through this sleeve there extends a long threaded bolt 22 having a hook 23 at its lower end. 22L denotes generally a yoke which is attached-to the upper ends of the inner and outer mold plates and which forms a connection whereby these plates are transversely spaced and whereby they may be lifted as the erection of the wall progresses with the lateral edges of the adjacent inner plates spaced apart approximately the width of the work-facing side of a post. A convenient form of the yoke is shown in detail in Fig. 3 and comprises a central bridge member 25 having attached to opposite ends thereof inverted U-shaped hangers 26. The bridge 25 is of suflicient length to enable the hangers 26 to clear the Z-plates 4. The hangers may be made of channeled metal, as shown, and are riveted or otherwise suitably connected through their webbed portions to the tops of the inner and outer mold plates. The
being so arranged as to just clear each other bridge 25 has formed therewith a hollow central post 27 which receives the shank 28 of a. hook 29.
Reference has been made hereinbefore to the seat 21 This seat supports a nut which is threaded on the bolt 22 and which forms a means for adjusting said bolt and the attached form plates. The nut is preferably a split nut and comprises a pair of symmetrical sections 30 and 30 which are provided with hinge eyes 31 connected by a suitable pintle 32. One of the members is provided with a swinging bolt 33 pivoted to a lug 34:, which bolt extends through slots 35 in both lugs 36, the pin being provided witha wing nut 37 whereby the two nut sections may be clamped together to form an operative or complete nut. Each section is provided with a socket 38 which is adapted to receive a bar, or similar operating means, for rotating the nut. Cooperating with the hooks 23 and 29 is a chain 39.
In the drawings I have shown six points of connection between the form or mold and the elevation devices, with three tie members 18 extending diametrically across the form and connecting opposed posts or ribs. These tie members are shown as extending continuously across and above the top of the form,
at the axis of the form. This arrangement, however, is not essential, as it will be evident to those skilled in the art that the cross ties may all be arranged in a substantially common horizontal plane, as by having their inner ends socketed into arms of a central spider.
With the parts arranged as illustrated and described, it is believed that the operation will be easily understood. The grouting is placed between the inner and outer walls of the mold or form by the workmen. The form will be elevated substantially continuously by a workman detailed to operate the nuts. The chains 39 which connect the 110 hooks 23 and 29 are particularly eiiicientin this operation. For instance, when one of the bolts 22 has been elevated substantially as far as possible or convenient, the mold or form being meanwhile supported by the other hooks and chains, the nuts for the particular pair of bolts 22 may be opened, the bolts dropped to their lower limit and the nuts re-applied to said bolts; the slack ofthe chain will then be taken in and the operation of elevating the form may then be resumed. With this arrangement, it will be evident that the mold or form may be in such elevation of form members (in this case, posts) which constitutea supporting means for the molded wall throughout the entire molding operation; also that these supporting members'ifor the'molded wallextend continuously from the top to'the bottom thereof and are in engagement with such wall; also that the construction employed niakes'it possible to increase (by addition to the top) the length of said posts or members whereby theymay be used :for the purposev of elevating the mold plates irrespective of the height of the wall which is to be molded. The construction described herein, while extremely efficient, is correspondingly simple in construction and economical of production' and application. For convenience of description, the membersB and C will be referred to as plates in the claims hereto annexed, it being understood that by the use of this expression I do not thereby limit my invention to the use of any particular material which may be employed in the production of such members. The outer wall of the mold-is, in effect a continuous plate composed of a plurality of individual plates connected at their lateral edges.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is I v I 1. The combination, with a form comprising an outer series of plates connected at their lateral edges and an inner series of platesconnected to each other and to the outerplates with their lateral edges spaced,- posts along which thelateral edges of the inner plates are adapted to move, and means carried b the posts for moving both series of: plates longitudinally with respect to said posts.
2. The combination, with a form comprising a series of plates connected at their lateral edges and a series of plates transversely spaced from the plates of the first series and having their lateral edges spaced, connections between the plates of both series whereby these series are connected and maintained in transversely-spaced relation, posts cooperating with the spaced lateral edges of one series of plates, and means earned by said posts and adapted to engage said connections thereby to move both series of plates longitudinally with respect to said posts. c

The combination, with an outer mold plate, of a pair of inner mold plates, a post adapted to engage the adjacent edges of such inner plates, means connecting the inner plates with the outer plates, a. reciprocable device carried by the post, and means connecting said device with said plates whereby they may be moved in unison along said post.
12. The combination, with a form comprising a pair of opposed posts, of a series of connected outer plates extending outside of and inclo-sing said posts, a series of inner plates adapted to engage said posts with their lateral edges, means carried by each of said posts for moving the inner and outer series of plates therealong, and a tie member connecting said posts.
13. The combination, with a form comprising a pair of opposed posts, of two spaced series of connected plates adjustable along said posts, means carried by each of said posts for moving the series of plates therealong, and a tie member comiecting said posts.
14. The combination, with a form comprising a pair of opposed posts, of a series of connected outer plates extending outside of and inclosing said posts, a series of inner plates adapted to engage said posts with their lateral edges, means carried by each of said posts for moving the inner and outer series of plates therealong, said means comprising a supporting member connected to each of said posts, a tie member connected to saidsupporting members, and means carried by each of the supporting members and. connected to the inner and outer series of plates for moving the same along said posts.
15. The combination, with an outer series of connected plates arranged to provide an inclosure, of a series of inner plates spaced from the outer plates, posts extending between the plates of the inner series and adapted to be engaged by the edges of said plates, tie members connecting opposed posts, and means carriedby said posts for moving the inner and outer series of plates therealong.
16. The combination, with a movable form plate, of a rib or post associated therewith, and means carried by said rib or post for moving said plate with'respect thereto, said means comprising an apertured member carried by the post, a threaded rod extending loosely through such member, means connecting said rod to said plate, and a split nut on said rod and operatively en-r gaging said member, said nut having one or more sockets for the application of a lever or levers thereto.
17. The combination, with a movable formplate, of a rib or post associated therewith, and means carried by said rib or post for moving.said plate with respect thereto, said means comprising an apertured member carried by the post, a threaded rod extending through said member, means connecting said rod to said plate, and a split nut on said rod and operatively engaging said member.
18. The combination, with a post, of a pair of inner plates adapted to cooperate with the sides of said post and movable therealong, one or more outer plates complementary to the inner plates, a yoke connecting and spacing saidplates, and means carried by the post and connected tosaid yoke for moving said plates along the post.
19. The combination, with a post, of a pair of plates adapted to cooperate with the sides of said post and movable thcrealong, another pair of plates complementary to the first mentioned pair, a yoke connecting and spacing said plates, a hook projecting from said yoke, and means carried by the post and cooperating with said hook for moving said plates along said post.
20. The combination, with a form comprising a plurality of posts adapted and arranged to engage one of the sides of the wall molded by such form, of transversely spaced plates extendingbetween said posts, means connecting and spacing said plates, and means connected with said posts and said plates for moving the plates longitudinally of the posts.
21. The combination, with a form comprising a plurality of posts adapted to en' gage and support the article to be molded, of plates interposed between said posts and adapted to be moved therealong and cooperating with said posts to support such article, of other plates transversely spaced from the last mentioned plates, and means connected with said posts for moving both sets of plates simultaneously therealong.
