Myinvention relates to side 'bearings for cars, of the type whereby; the anti-friction member is returned to normal ,position a` weighted gravity-actuated member.
In experimenting 'withithis type oi antifriction side bearings, Iliave found that when al roller-returning member, in the form of a pin or holt, arranged 'to roll directly on aides, is used to gravityfretur-nan antitriction 'member to normal position, the same is very noisy, and, therefore, renders the enbiredevice objectionable. To overcome this objectionable feature, I rovide the roller-returning member with re atively large wheels that are in constant rrolling engaoement with the uidee or track rails provi ed therefor. hes'e wheels, lby their added Weight -to the rollerreturning member, cause the fsame to be more positive in its action, and also constantly -hold said member on the guides, so that 1t will roll quietly thereon. y

3. In an anti-friction side bearing, the combination with upper and lower bearing plates, of an interposed hollow roller, or annular anti-friction member, side walls associated with the lower bearing plate and provided with guides inclined from both endsto the center, and a roller-returning member loosely engaging said roller from the inside and 'having Eon its ends'wheels in rolling engagement' with said guides.
4.
