citizen of the United States, and a resident of Gothenburg, in the county of Dawson and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Supports for Grain-Conveyers of Threshing\1achines, of which the following 'is a specification.
This invention relates to grain threshing machines or separators, and an object of the invention is to provide an attachment for the grain conveyer of a threshing machine or grain separator which is adjustable and will hold the horizontal pivotally or swingably mounted conveyer in various adjusted positions, preventing accidental movement of this conveyer, under various conditions, such as under a heavy wind, or by being engaged by some article during the grain threshing operation.
More specifically, this invention comprehends the provision of a toothed bar which is pivotally and adjustably supported by one of the vertical sections of the grain conveyer and is adjustably received through a suitable socket member carried by the swingable conveyer section and to provide a pivotally mounted spring controlled catch or latchlever for engagement in any one of the recesses formed in the toothed bar for holding this bar against accidental movement and consequently holding the swingable conveyer section against accidental movement.
Other objects of the invention will appear in the following detailed description, taken in connection with the accompanyin drawings, forming a part of this specification, and in which drawings:

Referring more particularly to the drawlngs, A designates a grain threshing machine or separator of the ordinary construction, now commonly in use which carr1es a grain conveyer structure comprising the vertical conveyer B and the swingable conveyer section G which receives the grain from the upper delivery ends of'the vertical stationary convevers B and delivers it to a wagon, sack or bin as desired. The improved support or attachment, comprising this invention is generically indicated by the numeral 1 and is carried by one of the vertical conveyer sections B and connected to the swingable section C for holding this section against accidental swinging move ment:
receiving therebetween the flat horizontal end 7 of the toothed supporting bar 8. The horizontal end 7 and the horizontal outer ends of the arms 3 and 4 and the straps 6 are provided with openings adaptedto aline and receive a pin 9 for connecting the bar 8 to one of the arms 3 and 4. The bar 8 eX- tends outwardly and is inserted through a socket member 10 carried by the conveyer section C. The socket member 10 comprises a standard 11 having a lateral enlargement 12 formed upon-one side of the same which is provided with an opening 13 through The standard 11 has a split ring le formed upon its lower end which is securely clamped about'the conveyer section C by the bolt structure 15, for supporting the socket mem- .ber upon the swingable conveyer section C outwardly of the support of this structure.
The upper end of the standard 11 is bifurcated, and a latch lever'16 is pivotally connectedto and positioned between the arms formed by the bifurcating of the upper end of the standard. Spiral springs 17 and 18 are connected at their upper ends to a wire 19 which extends over the upper edge of the latch lever 16, being held against longitudinal, movement therealong by engaging in a notch 20 formed in the upper edge of the lever. The lower ends of the springs 17 and 18 are connected by a length 21 of the wire of which they are formed and this length extends across the under surface of the en *largement 12 of the standard and engages in a notch 22 formed therein. The springs 17 and 18, being contractile springs hold the end 23 of the lever downwardly and engagement in any one of the-notches 2& formed in the upper edge of the bar 8, to hold this bar against accidental movement and consequently support the conveyer section G against accidental movement upon its pivot or swiveled support. An operating rope or cable 25 is connected to the upper end of the lever 16, and passes over a supporting or guiding pulley 26 which is supported by a suitable bracket 27. The bracket 27 may be attached to one of the depending ears of the split ring 14. The operating cord or cable 25 extends over the top of the thresher or separator, or along one side of the same to any desired position where it may be conveniently reached and operated by an operator for controlling the movement of the conveyor section C.
The standard structure 11 is formed of an upper section 28 and a lower section 29 which lower section has the split ring let formed thereupon and is also provided with an upstanding pin or spindle 30. The spindle'or pin 30- rotatably engages in a recess 31 formed in the under surface of the section 28 of the standard 11 to connect the upper section 28 to the lower section 29 so as to permit rotary movement of the upper section upon the pin 30 as an axis which movement is necessary, to permit adjusting swinging movement of the conveyer section C.
Vfhen the conveyer section C is to be supported in an extended position outwardly of the separator body, the notched arm 8 is connected to the arm 4L of the split ring structure 2 but when it is desired to extend the conveyer section 3 over or across the top of the separator A, this arm 8 is connected to the arm 3 of the split ring structure.
By providing a plurality of notches or recesses 24 in the upper edge of the bar 8, the conveyer section C may be held at any desired adjusted position within the limit of its pivotal or swinging movement within the limit permitted by the connection of the arm 8 to either. of the arms 3 or 4.
The ordinary or usual brace structure generically indicated by the letter D is also connected to the conveyer section 0 for supporting the conveyer section in, its proper adjustment as to elevation.
Having fully described the invention, what is claimed is:
l. The combination with a grain conveyer for separators embodying a stationary section and a swingable section, of a pair of oppositely extending arms carried by the stationary section, a bar adapted for pivotal attachment to the outer ends of either of said arms and provided with notches in its upper edge, a socket member rotatably supported by said swingable section and provided with an opening for receiving said bar therethrough, said socket member provided with a recess having conmiunication with said opening, a locking lever pivotally carried by said socket member and engaging through said recess and in any one of the notches in said bar.
2. The combination with a grain conveyer for separators embodying a stationary section and a swingable section, of a pair of oppositely extending arms carried by the stationary section, a bar adapted for pivotal attachment to the outer ends of either of said arms and provided with notches in its upper edge, a socket member rotatably supported by said swingable section and provided with an opening for receiving said bar therethrough, said socket member provided with a recess having communication with said opening, a locking lever pivotally carried by said socket member and engaging through said recess and in any one of the notches in said bar, said lever provided with a notch in its upper edge, a wire engaging in said notch, and a contractile spring connected to the ends of said wire for urging said lever into the recess.
3. The combination with a grain conveyer for separators embodying a stationary section and a swingable section, of a pair of oppositely extending arms carried by said rigid section, a bar adapted for pivotal attachment to the outer end of either of said arms and provided with notches in its upper edge, and a member attached to said swingable section, a socket member rotatably supported by said attaching member and provided with an opening for receiving said bar therethrough, said socket member provided With a recess having communication with said opening, a locking lever pivotally carried by said socket member and engaging through said recess and in any one of the notches in said bar, and a brace pivotally connected to said attaching member and to said stationary section.
