which the l'ollowing is a specification.

This invention has reference `generally` to improvements in that class of inventions known as games and toys7 and more particularly relates to a toy bomb.`

It is the principal aim and object of the present invention to provide a device of the above mentioned character designed so that when dropped upon the ground a loud noise will be made to imitate the explosion of a bomb.

It is an equally important object oi' this .invention to provide` Va device oi' -the above mentioned character wherein the body is in the iorm oi a rubber cup over which is adapted to be clamped apieceoff `paper so that when the device is dropped,` the air within the cup will be compressed i'or asw sui-ing of the breaking of the pieceof paper, thus producing the sound.

As a more specliic object the invention consists in the provision of a device of the above mentioned character wherein improved means is employed 'for removably clamping a piece oit paper over the cup; to provide means for rendering the cup air tight when the paper is in position; and to improve the construction of the several parts.

It is an additional object of this invention to provide a device oi the above mentioned character which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and eliicient in its purpose and inexpensive in manufacture.

Other objects will be in part obvious and in part hereinafter set iorth.

The invention accordingly consists in the 'features of construction, the combination ol elements and the arrangement oi' parts which will be amplified in the construction hereinafter described and the scope of the application of 'which will be indicated in the appended claims.

`Similar characters of reference are employed in all of the above described views, to indicate corresponding parts. i

Referring now, more particularly, to the accompanying drawings there is provided a handle 1, one end of which is provided with a socket 2 for receiving the inner end of arms 3. These arms areoil'set to form divergent inclined portions 4, while the `outer portions 5 continue from the inclined portions which are arranged 1n spaced parallel relation with respect to each other. A

ring or band 6 is now employed and is formed with suitablyspaced openings for engagement with the outer terminals of the armsjwhich terminals are riveted as at l" to the band or ring 6. Another band or ring 8 is `new employed and has its inner edge inclined as at 9, while seated on the inclined edge and the upper edge of this band S is the outwardly flared upper edge 10` of a rubber cup 11. Suitable lfasteners 12, preferably screws are now employed for fastening the band 8 and the cup 9 to the band or ring 6. A flexible gasket 13 desirably of rubber and of annular conformation is formed with suitable spaced openings and slidably engaged through the medium of these openings on the outer portions 5 of the arms, being disposed so as to seat against the upper surface of the ring or band 6. A clamping metallic band 14 is formed with suitably spaced openings and slidably engaged through the medium of these portions through the outer portions 5 oitl the arms and above the flexible gasket 1 3. A sheet of paper 15 is adapted to be disposed between the flexible gasket 18 and the clamping ring or band 14: for assuring of the closing of the open upper end of the cup.

Suitable means for clamping the paper in a taut position across the cup consists of a plurality of cam levers 16 pivotally mounted through the instrumentality of pintles 17 on the outer portions 5 o the arms and it is appreciated that upon swingV ing of the cam levers the clamping band 111 will move toward the outer ends oi the Y arms 'for clamping the sheet of paper 15 against the flexible gasket which in turn is clamped against the main band 6 and thisV 30 limitedl sense.
