Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern: f
Be it known that I, ARsnNE B. Dns RocHEs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island,.have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vaporizers, of which the following is a specification. i My invention relates to electric Vaporizers for the carbureters of internal combustion engines, and relates more particularly to the nozzle thereof.
The essential objects of my invention are to successfully vaporize the less volatile hydrocarbon fuels; to insure amaximum of heat with safety and with a small expenditure of electric current; and to attain these ends in a compact, substantial, and inexpensive structure.
To the above ends essentially my invention consists in such parts and such combinations of parts as fall within the scope of the appended claims. y

In the drawings 5 is the vertical portion and 6 the horizontal portion of the carbureter casing constituting the air conduit. The usual central fuel passage 16 is contracted near the top of the body as at 17 to facilitate the vaporizing discharge throu h a conical cavity 18. Integral withghe b0 y above the shank 13 is a circular base 20 with a vertically disposed peripheral flange 21, embracing a fiber disk 23 with an upwardly directed peripheral flange 24. Through a central opening 25 in the fiber disk extendsa mica insulating sleeve 26 rest ing on thebase 20 and embracing the body 12. An electrode 53 mounted in the wall 6 of the casing is in contact with the jacket 30 of b the nozzle and is connected by a binding screw 55 to a circuit wire 57 extending to any usual convenient source of electrical energy 58. Diagrammatically the electric circuit is shown completed by the wire-:60.
In operation the fuel passes from the tank 8 into and through the passages 16 and 17 tric current of the circuit develops heat in the resistance coil 48 suflicient for raising the temperature of the fuel, passing through the nozzle the desired degree. The current passes from the electrode 53 into the jacket 30; thence to the coil end 50, and through. the coiland coil end 49, and disk 32 to the body 12', or, as diagrammatically expressed, through the wire 60 to the battery 58.
I claim:-
1. In a vaporizer, the combination with the nozzle body, of a base on the body, an
insulating disk upon the base, a metallic disk on the insulating disk, an insulating sleeve embracing the body, a metallic jacket resting'on the metallic disk, an insulating lining in the jacket, a metallic disk on the body above the insulating sleeve, an insulating washer on the body above the second metallic disk, and a resistance coil between the insulating sleeve and ,lining in contact with both metallic disks.

3. In a vaporizer, the combination of a nozzle body, provided with external thread, a base on the body, an insulating disk on the base, a metallic disk on the first disk, an insulating sleeve on the body separating the metallic disk from the body, a metallic jacket resting on the metallic disk, an insulating lining in the jacket, an insulating washer on the body and engaging the jacket, a nut on the bod engaging the thread, and a resistance coi l between the sleeve and lining.
