To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, JosErH ROY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State, of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stove-Doors, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to improvements in stove doors, and is especially intended for use on' gas ranges for the oven and broiler compartments.
It is also more particularly intended to be used for that form of door referred to in the trade as drop doors, and its construction is particularly adapted for that useon account of being light and not requiring counter-balancing which is common in drop The object of my invention is to provide a stove door having the novel constructions hereinafter is adapted to carry out the functions and purposes which will be hereinafter set forth.

. convenience, will be termed, a longitudinally extending flange, because it extends in the .plane of the door, and the flange b will be termed a transverse flange, because it extends in adirection transverse the plane of the door. 5 is the oven frame to which the door is applied, and the door, asillustrated in Fig. 1, is arranged as a drop door.

The sheetiron members 3 and 4 areeach provided with peripheral inwardly extending flanges d, e, and the members telescopmg each other, as shown in FigsVQ and 3, forming a hollow panel A for the door. The longitudinally extending flange a serves as an overlapping edge for the openings in the oven frame 5 and the lower edge of the outside member 3 has an inwardly extending L-shaped portion 15, which overlaps the cross strip 16, at the lower edge of the oven door frame 5. From this it will be observed that the longitudinal flange a and the d pending L-shaped portion 15 furnish the door with an overlapping portion extending entirely therearound when the door is closed. For the purpose of enabling the bolts 11 to" be applied, the inner member 4 of the panel A is provided with openings 17, through which the nuts 11' of the bolts may be applied. For the same member 4 is cut away as shown at f, and the tion 15 is cut away as at g to permit access. within the panel A, for applying the nuts 13' of the bolt 13. A suitable handle 18 is attached to the purpose the end L-shaped porflange a of the angle iron 1, and a suitable spring catch 19 projects from the oven frame 5 to engage the edge of the flange a to hold the door in its closedposition.

A stove door comprising a. panel made up of two'sheet members Withinwardly telescoping flanges forming a hollow panel, an angle-iron frame bent into "a U-shaped contour around the hollow panel, the flanges of the panels and the angle-iron secured together, and the ends of the angle iron provided with hinge members.
4;. A stove door made up of a panel which consists of two sheet members with inwardly extending telescoping flanges, an L-shaped angle iron bent into U-shaped'contour around hinge members and stop lug reinforcements.
5. A stove door-comprising a panel made up of inner and outer sheet members having their sides and tops provided with inwardly extending flanges, and the bottom of the outside member provided with an inwardly and upwardly extending L-shaped portion for the purpose described, the said panel members having their side and top flanges telescoping, and an angle iron bent in U- shaped contour around the top and sides of the panel, the ends of the angle iron provided with hinge members.
- 6. A stove door comprising a panel made up of two members having inwardly extending telescoping flanges,,an L-shaped angle 1ron bent around the panel in a U-shaped contour, the angle iron having longitudinal and transverse flanges, the transverse flange of the angle-iron and the flanges of the panel members having registering bolt receiving openings, bolts passing through the openings, one of the panel members having openings adjacent the bolt-receiving openings to permit access to the bolt nuts, for the purpose described.
