To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Pro'rn J ASINSKI, a subject of the Emperor of Austria, residing at WVelland, Province of Ontario, and Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Boats, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in boats such as are used by life savers and others, and has as its special object the provision of a boat which is substantially nonsinkable and which can be overturned only with great difficulty.

Another object is to provide a boat in which passsengers may be seated under being also provided for those who propel the boat by means of cars.

A still further object is to provide a hollow platform rigidly united to the hull of the boat at its bottom, the platform acting as a reservoir for air and also preventing rocking of the boat.

These and other objects are attained by the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and shown in the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of this disclosure, and in which Figure 1 is a side elevational view showing a boat made in accordance with the invention.

An ordinary form of boat structure is indicated having sides 10, curving upward and outward from the keel 11, the boat having a curved stern 12 and an acute point 13 atthe bow as is usual.

Arranged within the boat are a plurality of seats 15, the rear seat 16, being arranged convenient to the steering handles 18, through which motion is communicated to the rudder shaft 19, and rudder 20. A semi-conical roof or covering 22, provided with windows '23, is arranged at the front part of the boat,

with the gunwale of the boat in an ordinary manner.

A hollow rectangular platform 25, is disposed below the boat, the same extending laterally slightly beyond the outline of the boat and also in advance of the point of the same. This platform is preferably made of relatively thin sheet metal formed on its upper surface into two oppositely disposed leaves or plates 26 to the outline of the lower part of the boat disposed between the raised elements exterior of the boat.

Reinforcing material 27, interposed between the plates and hull are held in place by the inturned upper edges 28, of the plates 26, which are reentrantly turned and fitted to recesses 29, formed in the sides of the boat.

A rearwardly extending projection 30 is formed centrally with the platform and furnishes an outboard support for the rudder shaft 19.

From the foregoing it will be seen that the platform 25, is rigidly engaged with the lower portion of the boat upon both sides so as to become a component part of the same, and, due to the extended area of the platform, it is substantially impossible to overturn the boat when loaded and within the water. At the same time it will be obvious that the air contained in the platform 25 furnishes a buoyant support for the boat rendering it practically unsinkable.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is.

1. In combination with a boat, of a platform extending longitudinally therebelow, said platform having a greater sectional area than that of the boat, and means for securing said platform to said boat.
