Be it known that I, HANS` HARTMAN, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, and resident of New York city, in
the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toilet-Powder Dispensers, l
of which the following is a specification.
lThis invention contemplates an improved dispenser fordispensing Atoilet powders of `various kinds and particularly powder soap.
Known devices for the'same or a similar purpose have often the disadvantage that the powder, especially powder soap, tends to clog and choke the delivery openings which must naturally be of very limited size or that in some other way the proper function of the delivery mechanism is impaired.
The main object of the present invention is therefore to overcome such difiiculties by forcing the powder mechanically through the delivery openings and not merely tov allow its passage by gravity or vibration.
Another object of the inventionis to provide a device of this kind of very simple construction, therefore cheap to manufacture and not liable to get out of order and which is at the same time of solid and neat appearance.
In this specification and annexed drawings I illustrate the invention in the form which I consider the "best, Ibut it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to such particular form because the said invention may be embodied in other forms. I am therefore showing also a modiication of my invention in another form and it is to beunderstood that in and by the .claims following the description herein, I deslre to cover the invention in whatever form it may be embodied.
The invention consists in certain novel features of construction and `combination and arrangement of parts as 4will be more fully .hereinafter described and pointed outl in the appended claim.

The dispenser comprises a receptacle or body l, having a removable top portion or cover 2, and a bracket 3, for attaching the device to a Wall or the like. Within the body 1, is arranged a shaft 4, carrying a spiral screw or conveyer 5, which is journaled with one end in the center of the.y bottom Grof said body 1 as shown at 7 whereby 'a portion 7, slightly reduced in diameter passes said bottom 6 being formed into a rivethead outside as indicated at 9.
Near its upper end shaft 4 is guided through a bracket or arm 10, as shown at 11, said bracket or arm 10 lbeing attached to the inner wall of receptacle 1by medium of rivets 12. The portion of shaft 4 above bracket 10 is of square shape as shown at 13, so as to it freely into a corresponding square hole 14 provided in the llower end of asecond shorter shaft 15, 'which is leading through a hole in cover 2 Withreduced diameter and having outside a knob 16, which is riveted tight onto shaft 15. A curved arm 5? extends horizontally from shaft 4 above the spiral 5, agitating the contents of casing l when shaft 4 is rotated.

it can 'be locked opposite such projection by medium of a screw 18, passing through the wall of body 1 and a part of cover 2 as shown at 19. Y
The bottom 6 of body 1 is provided with delivery holesor openings 20. Bracket 3 terminates` in a suitable base 21,having holes 22 for attaching the device to a wall, et cetera. The receptacle or body l is of conical shape at its lower end as shown at 23, having a cylindrical extension 24 within which a portion of the spiral screw or conveyer 5` -25,'having otherwise the same delivery openings 20 as described above. t
rIhe modus operandi of my dispenser may be stated as follows:
Assuming the device to be attached in its normal operative position to a wallor the like by medium of the bracket 3, the cover 2 can be readily removed by turning screw 18 so far out that its inner end passes out of cover 2 and then by turning said cover slightlyuntil the same disengages with its opposite slotted part thev inner projection of the wall of body 1 as shown' at 17. The lcover can then be lifted from body 1 and the latter filled with 'toilet powder, powder soap or the like. When fthe cover is replaced in the same, but reverse manner, care has to be taken that the square hole 14 in shaft 15 engages properly the square shaped upper end 13 -of shaft 4. It can be seen from the drawing that lthe cover 2 cannot assume its proper position if this is not the case, as it would otherwise rest with the lower end of shaft 15 on top of shaft 4.

gagement with the corresponding part of cover 2, the dispenser is ready lfor delivery and will deliver its contents in smallquantities Lthrough the holes 20 provided for this purpose in bottom 6 as soon as knob 16 is turned in the right direction. This will cause shaft 4, which is then connected through its square seat in shaft 15, and also the spiral screw conveyer 5' lto rotate and to convey some of the powder contained in the receptacle 1 through the cylindrical extension 24 and as there is no other'way for such powder to escape the resulting pressure upon its arrival at the bottom 6, it-will be forced through the openings 20.
In the modified form as shown in Fig. 3, the powder will fall `by gravity into the Spiral screw conveyer 5 andthe turning of knob 16 in the proper direction will force it sidewise through the openings 20 in the ,holes 20`as the conveyer rotates.
