a citizen of the United States, residing at Toppenish, in the county of Yakima and State of lvashingtoinhave invented a new and useful Improvement in Rotary Steam- Engines, of which the followingis aspecification. v. p, v
This invention relates to improvements in-rotary steam engines, and. more particularly to improvements on my prior;co-pend ing applicationfor rotary steam engines, and the object of this improvement is to provide steam actuated inlet valves for supplying steam at the proper intervals between-.abutments of each rotor and sliding cut-off used in conjunction therewith, also to provide novel means for. operating the sliding cut-offs at the proper period to allow the rotor abutments clear passage in their respective chambers. A further object is to provide the rotors andthe steam chests in the same horizontal plane and tohave'all actuating valvesmovable horizontally instead of vertically. I
A still further object resides in the simplicity of construction and comparatively low installation cost, yet embodying positiveness and reliability in operation.

This casing is formed with two independ ent expansion chambers 7 separated from 'each other by an intervening wall 8 and closed at their outer sides by heads 9 rigidly secured thereto. Within each of the expansion chambers 7 is a rotor 5 having a fixed abutment 10, the outer edge of which moves in contact with the periphery 11 of the expansion chamber, the periphery 12 ofthe rotor forming the inner wall of the expansion chamber, as shown in Fig. 6.
Located preferably at the side of the easing 6 are extension chambers 13 in alinement with the chambers 7 to receive sliding cut-offs 14; and these cut-ofls are actuated by slide "valves 15, to which they are attached by piston 16, the valves being disposed within the cylinders 17 of standard ceiving steam directly from a steam pipe 40, t
the cam rods 20 being bifurcated at their other ends and. having inwardly directed pintles. slidably engageable with cam slots 23, provided around the outer peripheryof rotor-disks 24L keyed to the shaft 4. These cam slots are so arranged with respect to the cam rods 20 that the off-set portions thereof act first on one of said rods and then on the other, thereby alternately shifting the slide valves 15 for the purpose of admitting steam alternately to the cylinders 17 to actuate the sliding cut-offs 14.
.Stationarily disposed upon stufling boxes 25 in contact with the shaft 4 on both sides of the casing 6 that house the rotors 5 are shaft f in abutting contact with the disks 27 and are adapted to-be rotatably shifted by threaded pinions 30 attached thereto and actuated by manually operated wheels 31.
