7 To all whom it ma concern."
'Be it known that 'I,EU.G1NE SoHNEronn, acitizen ofthe F-rench Republic, and a res1' dent of 42*Rue dAnjou, Paris, France, have invented a new and useful Improvement in I Gun-Supporting Platforms, which invention is fully setforth in theffollowing specification. 7 t
. Inmy application'for U. S. patent filed July -1917, Serial No."l83,595, I have described a gun support mounted'on bogies or trucks and provided with a sub-platform,
the platform and gun support being capable of relative movement with respect to'each,
other'around a vertical axis. Jacks are provided for lowering the gun support and sub platforminto firingpositlon on the ground,
continuation of theoperation' of the jacks raising the bogies or trucks oif theground. The reverse operation of the jacks lowers the bogies or trucks to the ground, while continued operation of the jacks lifts the support and platform off the ground for traveling. While the gun support wlth 1ts I sub-platform rests on the bogies, the sub- I platform may be readily turned about a ver- Y tical axis into any position preparatory for firing, and, when the sub-platform rests on the ginound and the bogies are off the ground,
the gun support and bogies may be turned around the same vertical axis, the platform constituting a base for the gun support. The invention described and claimed herein is for a specific embodiment of the broad invention described and claimed in my above application, and it comprises a gun carriage and a platform connected thereto, the gun carriage and platform bemg capable of relative turmng movements with relation j to each other around a vertical axis, and a plurality of trucks on which the gun car- 'ria'ge' is supported by elevating and depressing jacks.
On the gun carriage is mounted the usual I gun cradle adapted to swing thereon on v trunnions and toreceive a gun adapted to "recoil on slides mounted on the cradle.
I The platform and gun carriage are con nectedto give relative movement with ref erence to each other by providing circular retaining slideways, preferably on the gun carriage, in which the platform may work,
and also providing a connecting pivot. To facilitate movement of the carriage on the platform when the latter rests on the ground .and acts as a support for the carriage, anti- S pe cification of Letters Patent.

in the form of yieldingly supported rollers.
The gun carriage is supported on the Q friction bearings are provided, preferably and partly in longitudinal vertical section showing a gun'carriage embodying my improvement in position for traveling;
Fig. 2 is a plan view partly in section taken on the line IIII of Fig. l; and
-Fig. 3 is an elevational view of the gun carriage in position for firing.
In the drawings, S designates a gun carriage in the side members of which is revolubly supported a cradle X having the usual slides on which the cannon Y can recoil. The gun carriage S is supported by jack screws K working in nuts formed in the frames G, which latter, are connected to the gun carriage by guides and to the trucks by elastic suspensions E mounted on axles B of the trucks. U is a platform normally supported from the gun carriage in slideways S and connected thereto by a pivot V.
The gun carriage is provided with yieldingly mounted antifriction rolls Wto facilitate turning of the carriage on the platform. Brackets H are provided on the underside of the platform for receiving spades Z to anchor the platform in its firing position on the ground.
The operation of the device as thus far described is as follows :-Assuming the gun carriage to have been transported .on its trucks to the place of operation, the platform U is turned into battery position such; as indicated at U, Fig. 2, while the gun carriage is supported by jack screws K on the trucks. Then the gun carriage and platform are lowered by proper manipulation of the jack screws K until the platform U rests on the ground. Further operation of the jacks in the same sense lifts the trucks 011' the ground. The gun carriage will now be supported on the platform which rests on the ground and is anchored thereto by spades position for traveling by lowering the trucks 7 The entirety may be returnedto its' initial into contact with the ground andelevating i v I In a gun mount, the oombmationjof v gun supports, a plurality of wheeled trucks". v ,7

What is claimed is 7 1. In agun mount,-the combination of gun supports a pluralitygof wheeled trucks there for having elevating and depressing oonneo-- tions therewithand a firing platform transev portable with; and revolubly ooi'in'eoted to said supports for turning into firing (lireo tion when the latter are; elevated into trav eling position and adapted' togrevolubly support said gun supports when the wheeled trucks are elevated from the ground.
2. In? a- 'gun mount,"the combination of gun supports, a plurality of wheeled trucks,"
therefor having. elevating ,and depressing connections therewithp a firing-' platform transportable with said;supportsandrneans for revolubly suspending said platform from Copies of this patent may be obtained for said sup-ports inoluding pivot and peripheral platform-retainin means adapted to-permitturfiing the plat orm intofiring direotion when said gun supports are 1n-- 1 traveling position, and torevolu bly support said gun supports when the wheeled trucks are elevated fromv the ground,
