To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, WILLIAM G. Hnnroon,

"a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State'of Rhode Island, have invented a new and useful- Improvement in Collapsible Tubes, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in a collapsible tube of the type commonly employed for containing and dispensing tooth paste, shaving cream and like material, and it has for its primary aim and object to provide means for corn veniently expelling. the paste from its collap'sible container, such means being incorporated or embodied in the tube construction as totorm a permanent part thereof when sold to the purchasing public.

The invention consists in a clip-like attachrnent for the lower end of the tube and i is extended to one side to provide a handle or hold whereby the clip may be rotated to thus wind the tube about it and thereby effeet a collapsing of the container for expelling the paste contents from the opposite or discharge end of the tube. In the drawing Figure 1 is'a side elevation of a collapsible tube embodying the present invention.

Referring more in detail to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates the collapsible metal tube such as is commonly used in the dispensing of tooth paste to the public, the same having the, usual screw cap closing'its discharge end while its lower or bottom end, which i'sulsually secured closed b a clip or doubling over of its bottom edge, as the improved clip applied thereto.

The projecting end 5 is also of U-section tolend strength to the handle thus formed thereby, and the projecting wing is rolled inwardly over the oppos1te edge of the U-shaped handle 'to bear thereagainst and also close the space between the sides of said handle. This rolled edge not only eftects a neat finish for the handle but reinforces the same since when pressure is applied to the handle to rotate the clip the rolled head will exert pressure down onto'the opposing edge of the Ill-handle and prevent thesainefrom yielding. 1

In practice, the handle 5 is grasped and twisted to turn the cli over the tube thereby collapsing the tn e and expressing the contents thereoi out through the oppo site end. The projecting handle afiords ample surface for being readily gripped, all sharp edges being obviated by means of the therefore economical to produce, and

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire .to secure by Letters Patent is- A collapsible tube having a binding clip 10f U-section embracing its bottom edge to close the same, said clip extended beyond the tube to form a handle, one side of the U-sectioned handle having an'upwnrd extension rolled over the opposite side thereof.
