Be it known that I, GEORGE M. BACON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Salt Lake City, in the vcounty of Salt Lake and State of Utah, have invented acertain new and useful Improvement in Rocation, Serial Number 149549, iledgFebru-- ary 19, 1917 for a centrifugal separator formed may be in any desired number, and

Referring to this drawing, 10"designates an elongated hub portion provided with a horizontal section-'through the iiuted peripheral surface the concavities ot` which extend longitudinally of the hub, and for-m.substantially a polygonal body member. The concavities of the ,hub 10 thus strips 12, the latter may provide pockets the inner walls of which are Itransversely concaved and form at their adjacent sides radially extending and outwardly tapering ribs or partition walls 11.
A packing strip'12 is placed longitudinally in each lateral pocket ofthe hub 10, and may be formed of leather,`of.the like,

The ribs 11 fit between the innerfaces of each adjacent pair of packing strips 12, and project the adjacent edge portions of the packing strips outwardly to form partition walls 14 defining the lateral sides of the pockets. i
The valve head thus formed .is adapted to engage in the opening or Way formed .in the valve casing or Wall 16, and the free edges of the packing strips 12 areadapted to abut flat against the inner surface of the wall 16.- As shown in Fig. 2, the partitions or free edge portions 14 of the .packing strips fit snug against the inner surface of the wall 16 and seal the pockets or compartthe purpose of freeing the opposite end edges of the packing strips and effect the tight ysealing of the hubs in the casing 16.

In a rotary valve, the combination ofa hub provided With longitudinally extending concavities in its opposite sides provid ing partition ribs between the concavities, packing strips extending longitudinally in the concavities, transversely curved plates fitting against the outerqfaces of said strips, securlng means for the plates engaging the hub for binding the plates against the strips to conform the latter to the inner Walls of the, concavities, said packing strips extending at their opposite ends beyond the ends of the hub, and said transversely curved plates terminating at opposite ends short of the extremities of the packing strips, said curved at their lateral edges short of the free edges of said packing strips to provide packing elements at opposite sides of the concavitles.
