Description

NAGRABSKI.
CLOTHES HANGER.
APPLICATION FILED MAY s. 1919.
Patented July 1 FIG.4.
Flep3.
.rnxu'n RAGE-4.18821, or warnnnunv, comincrrcu'r.
. To all 'wlio'm it may concern:
Be it known that I, Janus NAGRABSKI, a citizen of Poland, residing at Waterbury, in
the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have inventedcertain new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
The prima provide a com ined coat and trousers hanger with novel trousers clamping bars and an improved form of hangerhook carried by the coat hargfilg portion thereof.
' others that will ture of the invention is tter understood,-
With the ve general object in vie'w'and me a parent as the nathe same consists the novel form, combi nation. and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and shownin the accompanying drawing, in which like refer ence characters indicate corresponding partsthroughout the several views.
Inthe drawing, f Flgure 1 is afront, elevational view of a combined coat and trousers hanger constructed in accordance with the present in-; ventlon,
2 is atop plan view thereof, 1
Fig. 3 is an end elevational view, f 4 is a cross sectional view taken verthrough the hanger portion and. 1g, 5 is an enlarged fragmentary per? pective view of a portion of the trousers hanger element. 1
Describing the invention more indetail there is provided a'curved bar 6 of the usual form and corres nding in a general way to the curvature o the shoulders of acoat having trousers clamping bars 7 depending therefrom and a hanging hook 8 secured centrally'thereof for suspending the same.
The suspending hook is formed of resilient wire and includes a substantially 'ciroul ar portion 9 having a terminal knob 10 that is engaged by the bent portion 11 of the opposite end, further reslliency being given to the bent portion by a tortuous bend- -1ng 12.. Extending forwardly ofthe hanger 8 are integrallyformed members 1-3and '14, the member 14 constituting a garment supownwardly bent hook portion at its free I end and constituting a keeper for the hook --'to prevent accidental displacement of the garment placed therein.
At suitable points, 'equi-distwntly spaced a specification ofLetters ratent. up nmuoamed May 9,1919. see No. 295,939.
object of this-invention is to porting hook 'whilethe memfber f 13 has -a.
" and upon opposite sides of the suspendin hook-8 and upon the free face of thevhange bar 6 are eye-bolts 15 to each of which is connected a suspendin ring 16 that. carries.
a pair of rings 17 to .w ich are connected the Patented July 1, 1919.
trousers clamping =bar supporting arms 18,
said arms 18 having the trousers clamping bars? fixed to the lower ends thereof. The
arms 18 are provided midway the ends there of with corresponding outwardly curved portionsil9 between which a retra/ctile coil spr1ng20-is connected so that the trousers clampin bars 7 are held in adi'acent position at a 1 times. As moreclear y shown in Fig. 5, the adjacent faces of the clamping bars 7 are provided with a felt or similar surface material-21 which directly engages the lower ends of the trousers 22 when in inverted hanging position.
From the above detailed description of the invention, it is thought that the-construc- I. tion and operation thereof will be at once apparent, it 'being noted, however, that the resllient engaging point between the two ends of the sus ending hook 8. will Prevent accidental disp acement of the hanger from {its support until forcibly removed by the .user'of the device. The trousers clamping bars 7 or the arms 18 may be gripped .by the hands of the user and the trousers ends insorted between the clamping bars 7 and" upon pres'su're thereon being released whereby-the springs 20 will exert their forms and draw the bars into closed relationship thereby to clamp the trousers in set position as shown in Fig. 5, at which time a waistooatand top coat maybe mounted upon the bar 6 and any -'art1cles desired suspended upon the hook 1 1:.
What I claim as new is r 1, A device of the class described comprising a curved coat hanging bar a suspending hook carried thereby, said hook aving resiliently enga' 'ng ends .formin an entrance opening to t e su ending hoo portion, eyebolts oarried by t e under face ofsaid bar, a ring secured in each eye-bolt,
a pair of rings securedjin the aforesaid ring, a pair of depending arms secured in the last named rings, trousers clamping bars carried bythe' lower ends of said';arms and a spring extending between said arms adapted toho cent. position.- y
2. A device of the classdwcri-bed comd the trousers clamping bars in adja-' rising a coat hanger arm, a suspending cured to the lower ends thereof and retracook carried thereby, said hook having retile coil springs connected at their ends to siiiently engaging ends controlling entrance the outwardly curved portions of the arms 10,
to the suspen ing portion thereof, a pair of tending normally to maintain the trousers 5 arms loosely suspended from said bar, said clamping bars in adjacent position.
' arms having corresponding outwardly In testimony whereof I aflix my signature. curved portions, trousers clamping bars se- JAKUB N-AGRABSKI.
