Description

J. W. TAYLOR.
SANITARY SHIELD.
APPLICATION FILED MAY 29. I9I8.

a M ATTORNEYS l I a @IEE SANITARY smiinzo.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 1?, lltllit a Application filed. Ma a; 191a: Serial No. aamaa.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN W. TAYLoR, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Improve-- ment in Sanitary Shields, of which thefollowing 1s a specification.
ranged relatively to one another that the central portion of the shield may be broken away in a single movement to form the necessary opening, with surrounding flaps, including a prominent frontal or primary flap, as desired.
In the accompanying drawings ing my improvements: 1
The figure is a perspective view of one of the shields, with its centralized scoring.
Referring now to the drawing my invention contemplates the provision of a shield I illustratconsisting of a sheet of flexible material, in-
dicated at 10, and preferably of paper, having a centralized group of weakened lines, which in thefsaid figure, includes a pair of spaced parallel weakened lines 11;' extending lengthwise of the sheet, and a single transverse line 12 which intersects the longitudinal lines 11 at a point to one side of the center of the latter, so that, by pressure upon the transverse line 12 at a'point between.
the parallel longitudinal lines 11, the several weakened lines will be broken down at least partially, and flaps of the sections adjoining one another by virtue of the weakened lines, will be at least partially freed, including a main or primary frontal flap 13 and a series of flaps 14, each of which normally adjoins the frontal flap and border in part the opening formed by the dropping of the frontal fiap- 13.
It is to be noted that the several weakened lines 11 and 12 terminate at their outer ends upon an imaginary oval line 15, and that the above results are obtained by the use of straight weakened lines, by means of which the opening resulting from the dropping of the several flaps 13 and 14, will closely approximate in shape and size the imaginary line 15.
It will thus be observed that the desired results are obtained with straight weakened lines enabling more ready manufacture, as well as more effective results in use.
I claim:
A. sanitary seat cover consisting of a sheet of flexible material having at its central portion a group of weakened lines, certain of which lines are parallel to one another in spaced relation, and one of which lines crosses said parallel'lines at one side of the center thereof, the material of said sheet when broken along said lines forming a. frontal primary flap between the parallel lines, of the same width throughout its length, and a plurality of flaps, each of the latter flaps adjoining the said frontal flap and bordering in part the opening formed by the dropping of the frontal flap.
