To all whom it may concern; p
Be it known that I, HAROLD P. HAs'rrNGs, a citizen of the United States, and a res1 dent of Syracuse, in the county of Onon-' tric switch which is particularly simple in construction and highly eiiicient in use; and it consists in the novel features of construction hereinafter set forth and claimed.
In describing this invention, reference is had to the accompanying drawingsin which like characters designate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure 1 is a sectional view, partly in elevation, of a switch embodying my invention, the same being shown as mounted 011 a panel-board, which is shown as broken away.
Fig. 2 is a plan of parts seen in Fig. 1, the cap being shown in section.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the base, parts being removed with the exception of one of the pairs'of terminals.

This electric switch comprises, generally,
a base, switch mechanism mounted on the base, and a cap inclosing said mechanism and the base and having a. wall skirting-the sides of the base.
1 designates the base which is square in plan' and formed with a recess open at its top and one side, this recess being formed by, opposing uprights 2 rising from the base, and a wall 3 between the uprights. The wall 3 forms oneof the sides of the base and the side edges of the uprights farthest removed from the wall 3 are located some distance in, from the side of the base 1 opposite to that side on which the wall 3 is located.
The switch mechanism is supported by a frame extending into the recess, that is, between the uprights 2. The frame ineludes upright legs 4 anda cross-piece or bridge 5 connecting the legs, the legs having inturned feet 6 at their lower ends. The frame is arranged with one of the legs 4 located near the rear wall 3, and with the other leg outside of the recess formed the uprights 2 and wall 3. The rest on raised projections 7 on the base 1.
The switch mechanism is supported by plates 8 depending from the cross-piece. includes movable switch arms 9, and ,3 buttons 10 for operating the switch as... 9, the push buttons extending through the cross-piece 5. The switch mechanism may be of any desirable form, size and construe tion, and per se, forms no part of this invention. y
The switch arms coact with pairs of terminals supported by' the base, the mem 'bers 11 and 12 of each pair being mounted, respectively, on the base at the lower ends of the uprights 2, and on the uprights 2, and preferably on the upper ends of said uprights. Each terminal 11 or 12, is air gular in form, and has a lateral extension or arm 13 or 14, the extension 13 of the tar minal 11 supporting switch contacts 15 and the extension 14 of the terminal 12 supporting contacts 16, the contacts 15 and 16, be-
ing located between the planes of opposing faces of the uprights 2 and the contacts 15, being located outside of the recess formed by said uprights 2 and the wall 3. The arms 13. on the terminals ,11 are turned. downwardly, as at '17, into depressions 1% formed in the base 1 on opposite sides cf one projection 7, and the arms 14 of the ten minals 12 are formed with upturned ends 19 which support the contacts 16. The tar minals are held in position by suitable screws, as 20', extending into the base from the lower side thereof; and electrical connection is made-between the terminals and the bus-bars 21 on the panel-board or; which the base is mounted, by means at? screws 23, 24, extending through the ten minals 11 and 12 from the front side of the base 1 through the underlying portions'oii the base and uprights 2 and into said has bars. These screws serve not only to mah the electrical connection with the bus-h but also to secure the base 1 in position. The base 1 is formed with suitable barriers -26 on its bottom, which barriers are located between the bus-bars.

An electric switch comprising a base formed with a recess open at its top and one side, and switch mechanism mounted on the base including a frame having legs rising from the base, one leg being located in the recess near the rear wall thereof and the other being located. out of the recess, and a cross-piece connecting the upper ends of the legs, and mechanism supported by the crosspiece, substantially as and for the purpose specified. v
3.-An electric switch comprising a base formed with opposing uprights rising therefrom, and mechanism mounted on the base comprising a frame having legsrising from the base, one leg being-located between the uprights, and a cross-piece connecting the upper ends of the uprights, pairs of terminals mounted on the base on opposite sides of the frame, one member of each pair being located at the lower end of one of I HAROLD P.
