v Be it known that I, IVILBER J. SANDER- soN, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Leandro, in thercounty of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new'and useful Improvements in Tracks for Tractors; and I do declare the following to be a clear, full, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the characters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to improvements in. traction engines and particularly to the link construction of the endless tracks used on certain types of tractors.
The object of the invention is to so construct the links of the track as to provide all of the advantages desired with the elimi' nation of the many disadvantages encountered in the construction of those tracks now commonly in use.
I first aim to provide a means for .allowing a quick, simple and efficient assembly of the links with a means provided whereby the connecting pins may be reversed when worn and also providing a means for preventing the sleeves on the pins from having independent rotary motion whereby they would be subjected to excessive wear.
A further object of the invention is to produce a simple and inexpensive device and yet one which will be exceedingly effective for the purposes for which it is designed.
These objects I accomplish by means of such structure and relative arrangement of the parts as will fully appear by a perusal of the following specification and claims.
On the drawings, similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several views.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of one of the complete links.

Fig. 3 is a fragmentary view of one end of the connecting pin with the bosses and link ends shown thereon in section.
Referring now more particularly to the characters of reference on the drawings, the track sections consist of links arranged in pairs, each link of each pair comprising a main body portion 1 terminating at one end in a boss 2 having a projecting annular side flange 3. At the opposite end, the body 1 is provided with another boss 4, which boss 4: is provided with a pair of inwardly proother.

Such sleeves 9 are provided with end lugs 9" which fit between the lugs 5 so as to prevent such sleeves from having any independent rotary motion on the pins 6, but such sleeves are only allowed that motion which is imparted to them by the flexing of the links with respect to each other. \Vhen assembled, the squared ends 7 of the pins 6 project beyond the ends of the bosses 2 and are secured in position by means of cotter pins 10.
By reason of the structure of the pins 6 having the squared ends 7, these pins may be taken out and reversed completely or turned a quarter of a turn at a time and thus the point of wear may be altered so as to extend the life of the pin. Similarly, the sleeves 9 my be taken out and their position reversed so as to change the point of wear and if desired, such sleeves may be provided with the lugs 9 at spaced intervals so that the position of the said sleeves may be altered in quarter turns, thus likewise extending the useful life of such sleeves.
The pin and sleeve construction noted affords a very simple means of assembling the track links and at the same time the two essential features of preventing the pins, and likewise the sleeves, from having independent rotary motion are accomplished. If such pins and sleeves had independent rotary motion, they would quickly wear out, which of course would be a very objectionable feature.
I provide the flanges 3 so as to give a greater supporting and bearing surface to the links. By this means, I aim, if possible, to have an amount of bearing for the links equal to the bearing of the sleeves on the pins between the links. Thus, the carrying of the load and the relative frictional Wear between all the parts Will be equalized.
From the foregoing description it will readily be seen that I have produced such a device as substantially fulfils the objects of the invention as set forth herein.
