Description

M. C. BUBLEIGH.
lmprovement in Let-Off Mechanism for Looms.
No. l30,l07. Patented Aug. 6,1872.v
UNITED STATES MIOAJAH C. BURLEIGH, OF SOMERSWORTH, NEWV HAMPSHIRE.
IMPROVEMENT IN LET-OFF MECHANlSMS FOR LOOMS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 130,107, dated August 6, 1872.
To allpersons to whom these presents may come:
Be it known that I, MIOAJAH O. BURLEIGH, of Somersworth, of the county of Strafiord and State of New Hampshire, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Looms for Weaving Cloth; and I do hereby declare the same to be fully described in the following specification and represented in the accompanying drawing, of which- Figure 1 is a side elevation, and Fig. 2 a top View of my invention applied to one end of a loom.
The purpose of the invention is to give the necessary support to the warp at the time the lay beats up the filling, and at the same time allow the warp to be delivered as may be required.
In the drawing, A denotes one end of the frame of a loom, B being the lay. C denotes a ratchet-wheel of the yarn-delivery mechanism. In carrying out my invention, I fix to the ratchet or its shaft a plain wheel, D, on whose periphery I arrange a spring, E, in manner as shown. The said spring I fasten to a lever, F, pivoted to the loom-frame, or having its fulcrum as shown at a. The lever has its arm next the lay bent down or curved in manner as shown at b, and there rests or bears upon a friction-roller, Gr, arranged upon a stud, 0, extended from the swordd of the lay B. WVhile the lay is in the act of beating up the filling the lever will be operated so as to press the spring down upon the brake-wheel D, whereby the warp will be held with the requisite friction for the lay to beat up the filling, but will be delivered as circumstances may require.
I claim as my invention- The roller G, the cammed lever F, the spring E, and the brake-wheel I), combined and arranged with the loom frame A, the lay B, and the yarn-delivery mechanism, or the ratchet-Wheel thereof, substantially as and for the purpose described.
