A hub 20 is provided at the juncture of the post 17 with legs 18 and 19 and serves as a bearing for the stub shaft upon which the tub oscillates. Cross members 22-22 conneet the side frames,` forming a rigid structure.
The mechanisms receive their power from the horizontal shaft 23 which extends across the lower part of the' frame. Rotatably and slidably mounted upon the shaft 23 is a gear wheel 24,' which meshes with an elongated pinion 25, carried on the inner end of a. short shaft 26 thatts journaled in a hub 27 carried by the mme. electric light fitting, or socket-- A crank arm 38 is carried on the right end of the shaft 23 and through the medium of a link 39 oscillates the tub as the shaft rotates. An A shaped extension 40 projectsupwardly from the top bar 14 of the frame 10 and carries at its apex a vertical hub 41 on which the wringer, indicated in general, at

83. The vertical shaft '51 carries at its lower end a beveled gearwheel v91 meshing with the beveled gear 92 on the hub 93, loosely mounted on ,theshaft 23. The sliding gear wheel 24 carries at opposite ends of the hub,
or engagement respectively, with the wringer driving hu 93 and a collar 96 secured to the shaft 23 and through which the `tub oscillating-mechanism is actuated. The clutch member 94 is always in engagement with the wringer driving hub, irrespective of whether the gear 24 has been slid along pinion 25 to throw the clutch end 95 into engagement with the hub The motog'lv is mountedgear 24 I have providedan annular roove 97 on its hub, for engagement by a for arm 98. The forked arm is secured on the end of the shaft or rod 99, axially slidable through a journal 100 on the end frame 10. A control rod 101 extends vertically up the outer side of the frame 10, being journaled in the hub 102, 103 on the frame. The right hand endlooking at Fig. 4-of the yoke 112, -carries a latch 114 arranged for engagement with the notches 115 on the quadrant 11G-carried by the tub 21. The left end of the yoke 112. being the heavier, the
latch end normally tends, by effect of gravity, to ride .up into engagement with one of the notches in the quadrant to lock the tub in selected position. The yoke 111, it will be noted,'has in its bottom arm, an upstanding projection 117 so that when the lever 109- is in the position shown in Fig. 3, the tub driving clutch, then being out of engagement, the outer end of the yoke 112 islfree to drop,
throwing its inner latch end up into engagement with the notch in the quadrant A116 on the tub.
To start the tub in operation, the handle is raised, thus throwing the latch out can thenbbe dropped against the lower leg of the yokelll, which is somewhat higher than the part of said leg, 'to the right of the stop 117, and the pii'oted yoke 112 will be held in elevated position with its latch outof engagement with the quadrant. as shown in Fig. 4.
The hand lever 110, which is'conveniently' located at the front of the machine, cannotl be horizontally moved to the right into clutch engaging position as it must first be raised t0 clear the stop 117.
