To all whom it may concern .Be it known that I, LAURA a The objects of my invention or inventions,

hereindisclosed areto prov de anew and improved method of washing and cleansing and apparatus for carrying such new and improved method into effect; which method and apparatus, may be used for washing and cleansing clothing and various otherarticles; such as fabrics (or even the person), which apparatus is of simple, cheap and eflicient form of construction, and of long life.

My said improved method of washing and cleansing comprises broadly; submitting the objects to be cleansed to a shower-bath of water under pressure; carrying with it dirt dissolving and cleansing material, such as soap, dissolvable soap powders, or even suittion, a-portionthereof being shown in cenable saponaceousor other liquid cleansing,

chemicals, preferably taken up and held in solution; and one form of apparatus (also of my{ invention) for carrying my said -cleansing method intoefi'ect, which I have found highly eflicient therefor, is hereinafter shown, described, and claimed inthe following specification, of whichthe accompanying drawings form a part, wherein similar letters or numerals of reference designate like or equivalent parts, wherever found.

Referring to the drawings: The reference letter A, designates the deliveringwater-head of my improvedwashing and cleansing-apparatus; which is usually in the form of a sprinkler-rose of the ordinary shower-bath form shown; B is the cleanser-holding receptacle and supporting means; C is the: support for supporting the artlcles to be cleansed in position beneath the cleanser-receptacle, the latter being located when in working position betweenv such support and delivery water-head; and D 1s the combined supporting and water-feed pipe. The outer delivery end of such feedpipe D, extends downward, and secured to its lowenend, usually by a screw-thread 11, is the thimble 12, having the annular outer peripheral supporting-fiange'lZB, and the female-screw-thread 1 1, to receive the inletpipe 15 of the water-head A, suchinlet-pipe,

water-head, securing-nuthl'l', and the plurality of water-delivery nozzles 17', being usually and preferably integrally cast (or otherwise formed) of one piece of metal.

.Mounted upon and supported by thefiange '13 of the thimble 12, Fig. 4, is the annular supporting-ring 18, in one side of which is secured in. a suitable orifice, the end of the upper horizontal portion 19 of the. I claim:

1. A washin and cleansing device comprising a fiui sprinkler, means for supporting the sprinkler, means for supplying fluid to the sprinkler, goods-supporting means located below the sprinkler and in the discharge path thereof, and a perforated cleanser receptacle located intermediate of the sprinkler and the goodssupporting means and movable horizontally and radially in and out of the discharge path of the sprinkler.

2. A washing and cleansing device comprising a fluid sprinklersupported in a horizontal position, means for supplying fluid to the sprinkler, goods-supporting means located in the discharge path of the sprinkler, and a perforated cleanser receptacle located intermediate of the sprinkler and the goods-supporting means and movable in and out of the discharge path of the sprinkler and movable upwardly when out of said discharge path, r

4. In a device of the character described, a delivery water-head; a goods support located in the water path below the waterhead; a receptacle through which the water will pass on its way from the water-head to the goods, adapted to hold cleansing material adapted to be dissolved into solution and carried along with the water to the goods; and a horizontally movable receptacle-support permitting of the swinging of the receptacle into and out of the waterpath between the water-head and goods support.

5. In a device of the character described, a delivery water-head; a goods-support located in the water-path below the water'- head; a receptacle through which the water will pass on its way from the water-head to the goods, adapted to hold cleansing material adapted to be dissolved into solution and carried along with the water to the goods; and a horizontally movable receptaole-support permitting of the swinging of the receptacle into and out of the waterabove the goods support; a vertical standard between the water-head and goods-support; a foraminous walled receptacle for holding cleansing material dissolvable in the water; a receptacle supporting-sleeve vertically and horizontally adjustable upon the standard between the water-head and goodssupport; and a vertically swingingsupport ing rod connecting the supporting-sleeve with the receptacle.

7. In a device of the character described, I
