' Be it known that I, FINLAY R. MCQUEEN, a citizen of the United States, resident of Minneapolis, County of Hennepin, State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and 'useful Improvements in Meansfor Raising Concrete-Molda'of which thefollowing'is a specification.
This invention relates to devices for raising the molds used in buildingup'right concrete walls, and the object of the invention is to improve the device illustrated in United States Patent- No. 1,119,851, issued to me December 8, 1914, by adapting the device for operation by power instead of by hand.
A further and particular object isto provide a meanswhereby the shaft for operating the screw of the mold can be easily and quickly alined with the drive shaft regardless of the position ofthe mold in the wall.
The invention consists generally in various constructions and combinations, all as hereinafter described and particularly point ed out in the claims. 7

In the drawing, 2 represents a frame which is mounted on the mold (not shown) and provided at the top with cross bars 3 which support the upper portion of the. lifting mechanism, to be described later. Suitable cross bars 4 are provided near the middle of the frame 2. Upright parallel rods 5 are provided between the cross bars 3 and 4. 6 represents a reinforcing rod embedded in the concrete and extending above it. A hollow screw 7 is provided and adapted to slide on the reinforcing rod 6 and said hollow screw is secured at its lower end to angle cross bars 8 which are fastened together by suitable means and 'are slidable upon and guided by the rods 5. Angle plates 9 are provided for fastening the hollow screw 7 to the angle cross bars 8, the horizontal flanges of said plates being bolted to the horizontal flanges of the angle bars 8 while the vertical flanges of the plates 9 are seatedagain'st the lower end of said hollow screw and are secured thereto by bolts 10 seated within recesses 11 in said screw. Suitable braces 12 connect the screw 7 with the outer ends of the angle bars 8. The up right rods 5 are arranged preferably in staggered relation to the cross bars 8, one rod extending through a hole in the end of one cross bar and the other rod extending through a hole in the opposite end of the other bar. The screw 7 is thus guided vertically by these two rods and prevented from turning or twisting.
At the upper end of the screw 7 I provide a worm wheel 13 having a hub 14 interiorly' threaded to engage the screw 7. 15 is a ring seatedon the cross bars 3 and secured thereto by suitable means, such as screws 16. A collar 17 is mounted on the lower end of the hub 14 and suitablegaskets 18 are interposed between said collar and the ring 15. The inner edge of the ring 15 is provided with an upright annular flange 19 which encircles the hub 14 and the upper edge of said flange forms a bearing for the worm wheel 13 and on which the said worm wheel is free to turn. A ring 20 is mounted on the annular flange 19 for rotary adjustment thereon and- I having bearing boxes 24 thereon for a shaft 25 on which a sprocket wheel 26 is secured. A belt 27 connects the said sprocket wheel with'a line shaft (not shown). This mold, particularly in building a curved or circular wall, will be stationed in many different positions with respect to the line shaft and without the provision for rotary adjustment of this shaft a great deal of time and labor would be consumed in lining up the sprocket shaft with the drive shaft. By mounting the ring 20 for rotary adjustment on the hub of the worm wheel, I have been able to easily and quickly adjust the sprocket wheel shaft in parallel relation with the drive shaft and when this has been done, the ring 20 is locked and thereupon it will be securely held with the brackets 22 against further movement until the locking screws are released. This I regard as the important feature of my present invention, as it allows me to easily and quickly adapt the apparatus for operation by power.
In place of the cam lever provided. in my patent above referred to for locking the vertically moving rod, I provide a dog 28 pivoted at 29 and having a surface for contact with the rod 6 to lock it in its raised position. This dog is released by a pedal 30 that is normally held in its raised position by a spring 31. Dogs 32 are also preferably provided for engaging the rod and mounted to be moved out of contact therewith by spring-pressed pedals This manner of clamping the rod 1 have found to be more convenient while fully as efficient as the device provided in my patent above referred to.
I claim as my invention:
1. The combination, with a mold frame, of a reinforcing rod, a hollow screw mounted to slide on said rod, and means holding said screw against rotary movement, a clamping dog mounted to engage said rod, a worm wheel mounted on said frame and having an internally threaded hub to engage said screw, a ring encircling said hub and normally stationary but capable of rotary adjustment with respect to said hub, said ring having outwardly projecting brackets and a shaft journaled in said brackets and having a worm to engage said worm wheel, the rotary adjustment of said ring allowin said worm shaft to be adjusted in difierent positions with respect to said worm wheel.
2. The combination, with a mold frame, of a reinforcing rod, a hollow screw arranged to slide on said rod, and means holding said screw against rotary movement, a clamp mounted to engage said rod, a ring secured an said frame and having a circular upright flange thereon, a worm wheel having its hub j ournaled for rotary movement in said flange and internally threaded to engage said screw, a ring loosely mounted on said flange for rotary movement thereon and having set screws for normally looking it on said flange, a worm shaft carried by said ring and meshin g with said worm wheel and having a driving connection, the rotary adjustment of said ring on said flange allowing said worm shaft to be adjusted in different positions with respect to said worm wheel.
3. The combination, with a mold frame, of a reinforcing rod, a. hollow screw mounted to slide on said rod and means holding said screw against rotary movement, a clamp mounted to engage said rod, a stationary member mounted in said frame, a worm wheel having its hub journaled in said memher and internally threaded to engage said screw, a ring mounted for rotary movement on said member and having means for normally looking it thereon, a worm shaft carried by said ring and meshing with said worm wheel and having a driving connection, the rotary adjustment of said ring on said 'member allowing said worm shaft to be adjusted in difierent positions with respect to said worm wheel and alined with its driving connection.
