This invention relates to switch locking devices, and the object is to provide a construction which shall be more efficient and more easily operated than many of the types of locking devices now in use.
A further object is to provide in connection with an operating arm carrying a hasp or the like, a resiliently mountedlatch boltdesigned to be engaged by the hasp for throwing the bolt to inoperative position, the latter then returning to operative position and passing through the hasp and retaining the latter in position for locking the switch.
A still further object is to provide means for retaining the latch both in inoperative position when desired.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of elements hereinafter described and claimed.

Fig. 5 shows a pivoted arm which operates through a slot in the cover, and retains the locking bolt at times in inoperative position.
In carrying out my invention I provide a switch stand including any suitable supporting structure suchy as that shown at 10, carrying a table 12 provided with a slot 14 and with a central aperture 15, accommodating the rotatable member 16, carried by the rotatable element 17. The element last named is provided with` a slot 18 having a beveled end portion 19 .with which the beveled end 20 of the lever 21 comes into contact. The lever 2l is pivoted at 22, and is provided with a bail shaped member or hasp 24 engaged by' the looking' bolt, or latch bolt 35. One end of member 17 carries a plurality of upwardly extending supporting members 26 between which the free end of the lever 21 moves. These members 26 support a casing or the like shown at 28, serving to mount the locking members proper. The casing is closed by means of a plate 30 provided with a key hole slot 31 and with a slot 32 through which a bolt retaining device passes, this retaining device holding the bolt in inoperative position when desired.
On one wall of the casing is a iiat plate 32 having a beveled end 33 extending to the edge of the slot 34 in the adjacent wall of the casing. Opposite plate 32 I mount the latch bolt 35 having a cutaway portion 36 therein, the portion last named being engaged by the key to be inserted through slot 3l. One end of the bolt constituting the engaging end is beveled at 37 and cooperates with the beveled portion of plate 32. end of the bolt is recessed at 39 and is engaged by coiled spring 40 for normally throwing the latch bolt into engaging position. Upon contact between the hasp and the beveled end of the bolt, the latter recedes permitting the hasp to pass between the bolt and plate 32, locking the switch arm.
In order to retain the locking bolt in inoperative position when desired, I provide the latter with a notch 42 engaged by a pivoted member 43 mounted in lears 43 land eX- tending through slot 32 of the casing plate or covering 30.
What is claimed is:
l. In a device of the class described, the combination with a switch stand, a rotatable member supported thereby, an arm pivotally mounted and `adapted to rotate said member when in a given position, and-means for locking the arm, said means last named including a hasp carried by the arm, a resiliently mounted locking bolt engaging the hasp, and means for retaining the locking bolt at times in inoperative position.
2. In a device of the class described, a rotatable member comprising an element of a switch operating device, an arm pivoially connected therewith and means for locking the arm, said means comprising a locking bolt having av beveled end portion. a plate positioned opposite said locking bolt and in alinement therewith and having a beveled The sepatating the bolt from the oppositely located plate to permit the hasp to pass the looking bolt, and the spring restoring the l0 boltto position for engaging the lla-Sp and locking the arm'.
