To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FRANK S. VVOOD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lmnberville, in the county of Bucks and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Music-Leaf Turners, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to music leaf turners, and the object of the same is to provide an improved means for quickly and accurately turning the pages of sheet music without tearing the same or without requiring the operator to handle the same.

Applicant is aware that there have been many devices for turning music invented, and the principal object of this invention is to provide a device that .will accomplish the result and which is simple in construction, eflicient in operation and consists of the minimum number of -parts.

A still further object of this invention is to provide a device as above set forth which includes a supporting frame that can be folded and thus retain the music secured thereto while being transported.

With these and other objects in view, this invention consists of certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.

Referring to the parts by reference numerals, the device comprises a frame 10 made in two sections having lapping cars 11 on the horizontal strips thereof and brace rods 12 in connection with the frame which perform the dual purpose of a support for the music. Rests for the music are designated by the numeral 13, the same being formed integrally with the lower of the horizontal strips of the frame sections. Also formed integrally with the lower of the horizontal strips of the frame are rearwardly bent hooks 14 whose bills have covering 15 thereon so as to prevent the same from marring the music rack of the piano. The means for turning the sheets of music comprises a vertically arranged rod 16 which has at its lower end a crank 17 terminating in the hand grip 18. At the opposite end thereof is the arm 19. A tube 20 is loosely carried on the rod 16 and has at its lower end a crank 21 that terminates in a hand grip 22. It is to be observed that this crank 21 is spaced from the crank 17 and the grip portion 22 is so spaced from the grip 18 as to permit ready access thereto. At the upper end of the tube 20 is an arm 23 that extends beneath the arm 19 and in parallelism therewith. Suitable clips 24 are loosely carried by the

19 and 23 and also by the uppermost of the horizontal strips of the frame 10.

It is to be observed that the tube 20 is j ournaled through the hinge ears 11 and thus forms the pintle for the said ears. With this construction the frame sections can be folded and the music retained therein While being transported. Because of the positive movement given the sheets of music attached to the clips it will be only necessary to have the clips in engagement with every other sheet of music.

It is obvious that minor changes may be made in the form and construction of this invention without departing from the material parts thereof. It is therefore not wished to confine the invention to the exact form herein shown and described, but it is wished to include all such as properly come Within the scope claimed.

I claim In a music leaf turner, the combination with a two part frame, hinges connecting the parts and including a tube and a shaft extending therethrough, and a leaf-turning mechanism proper, whereof said tube and shaft are parts; of the music leaf rack along the lower bar of each part of the frame, and on each part an upstanding rearwardly bent hook provided with a soft covering adapted to engage over the music leaf rack of a piano.
