Another object is to render the bag exceedingly strong and durable and capable of rough usage when lugging the tool bag about. Another object is to provide considerable room for storing and carrying a large number of tools.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction as hereinafter shown and described and then specifically pointed out in the claims.

A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, 1n which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

The body 10 of the tool bag 1s made of leather, canvas',,duck, or other suitable textile fabric, and in practice, the front 11, the bottom 12 and the back 13 are made of a doubled-up piece of material and the sides .14 are each made of a piece of a doubled-up material and are fastened in position on the front 11, bottom 12, and back 13 by stitches 15. The open top or mouth of the bag body 10 is adapted to be closed by a covering flap 20 of a' doubled-up material and preferably Specification of Letters Patent.

.It will be noticedthat bythis arrangement a shallow tray with solid walls is formed in the bottom of the bag body for containing tools or other loose material, the walls of the tray preventing such tools and materials from cutting into or injuring the body 10.

The bottom corners of the bag are provided with metallic corner protectors 40 fastened by rivets 41 in position on the bag. One of the rivets 41 of each front corner passes through the front 11 and flange 32, another rivet 41 of the front cornerpiece passes through the corresponding side 14 and the adjacent flange 33, and another rivet 41 of the front corner piece passes through the bottom 12 and the plate 31. One of the rivets 40 of each corner piece passes through the back 13 and the reinforcing plate 30, another passes through the correspond g ide 14 and the flange 33, and. an-

The covering flap 20 is provided at the sides with side flaps adapted to overlie the upper portionsofthe sides 14 to close the ends of the open top or mouth of-the bag body 10- thereby preventing rain, dustor other extraneousmatter from passing-into the tool bag; The top; rear portion of the covering-flap 20 is provided with a rein-forcing plate of-cardboard-or other stifi material and interposed-between the layers of the flap 20, as plainly indicated in Figs. 2 and 3. The other end of the shoulder strap- 60; is adjustabl y connected with a buckle 65 attached to a strap 66 riveted, or otherwise fastened to the other, side 14 .of the bag body, 10. By thearrangem'ent described the-shoulder strap 60 can be lengthened or shortened to suit the convenience of the-person making use ofthe bag.
