I attain these and other objects of my invention by the mechanism accompanying drawings, in whichigure 1 is a side elevation of one form of my invention; Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the improved form of my invention; Fig. 3 is a vertical section of a modified form of my invention; Fig. 4 is a diagrammaticyiew of the electric circuits; Fig. 5 is a top plan of Figs. 1 and 3; Fig. 6 is a vertical section of a further modiiied form; Fig. 7 is a diagrammatic view of same; of Fig. 6.

i The electric current from battery B travels through primary wire 39, pin 23, contact bar 14 and vertical hinge,proceeding no further until the device is operated. When push rod it likewise moves fulhousing 2 and causes toward vertical hinge 21 on bar 19 comes crum arm 8 toward maker bar 19 to move When projection into contact with the brass` vertical hinge 15- the electric current flows through maker bar 19 to the entire machine, and as one primary wire is grounded upon the machine this completes the circuit back to coil C and battery secondary current passes through high tension cable 40 to electrodes 25 and 24, jumping the gap between those members and igniting the gasolene vapor. The contact of projection 21 and vertical hinge 15 is merely .a passing contact because as push button 11 1s pressed to its farthest position maker bar 19 is lifted by the contact ot its curved end 20 with cam member 18, thus clearing it from vertical hinge 15 and breaking the electric circuit. Spring 17 presses vertical hinge 15 back to its upright position and maker bar 19 and its projection 21 slide over the in- ,sulation member 16, making no further elec- 'trical connection and flame is smothered when lid 6 is moved back over top of lamp 3. Referring to the modified form disclosed in Figs. 3, 4 and 5itwill be observed that I provide a maker bar 28 of slightly modified construction having a downward projection 30 of modified form and a downwardly pro jecting catch29 at its outward end. I pro- V "vide a contactpo'int 26 electrically connected with wire 39 and, corresponding in function with member 15 of the form of my inventlon shown in Figs. 1 and 2. I further provide a contact4 point 27 .positioned in proximity. to contact point' 26 andadapted vto be moved into electrical connection therewith by projection 29 of bar 28, the aforesaid 'members having a function corif'espondiilig'with that of projection 21 of bar 19 in the form of my invention illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2'. ther provide a cam projection 30 on bar 28,
huvinga function corresponding with that `of curved end 20 of bar 19 in the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2; and a member 31 adapted to engage against cam projection 3()I of bar 28, thus causing projection 29 to disengage from Contact point 27, which-is resiliently mounted, and break the electrical connection that has been momentarily made between members 27 and 26. It will be seen that the function of member 31 corresponds with that of member `18 in the form of my invention disclosed in Figs. 1 and 2. 11v is the ground connection with standard 1- for both primary and. secondary-circuits ofthe vibrating coil, as illus- -trated diagrammatically in Fig. 4, this fig-ure of the Idrawings illustrating. also the operation of the form of my invention disclosedin Figs. 1 and 2. Other parts shown in Figs. 3, 4 and 5 have been described in connection with Figs. 1 and 2. I provide a suitable slot 32 in the top of standard 1, in each of the forms of my invention, to permit of movement of f ulcium arm 8.
Referring t'o Figs. 6, 7 and 3 I provide a suitable spring'35to hold fulcrum arm 3 to its normal position. This springcorresponds as tothe function it performs with spring 12 of the other forms of my invention. provide a push button 33, arranged to operate fulcru-m arm 8, and corresponding in that respect to the function performed by `push rod 11. It is-mounted in an insulation member 34. Iush rod 33 carries a contact member 36, having an insulated portion 37, as illustrated in Figs. 6y and 7. Member 36 is positioned tofmomentarily Vcontact with .contact member 38 which is grounded on standard 1, as illustrated. Member 38 is sufficiently resilient to allow member 36 to pass vover it when push rod 33 is pressed i-nward, the j insulatedy portion 37 thereupon .breaking the electric circuit between contact members 36 and 38, thus performing a function analogous to that of the cam members and of the other forms of my invention, as hereinbefore described. When the electric circuit is Vcompleted Vby the connection- Vof contact membersy 36 .and 33,` a high tension shower spark iscaused to jump the gap between the two the `other vforms iof my invention.. This shower of sparks occurs only for an instant as the contacts pass each other while cover 6 is sliding open. The ,gasolene or alcohol vapor fromthe wick causes ignition. to take .place. When push button .3 3 .isrreleased the I fur-'- electrodes .24C .and 25',- as in cover 7 is automatically moved to its originalV position closing lamp 3 and` extinguishingV the flame. Insulation 37 on contact member 36 prevents any spark occurring when push rod 33 is released and returns to its outward position. The spark does not occur while the flame is burning, which insureslong life for the battery. Each of the forms of my invention provides for a vibrating jump spark, which lights a flame. designates a vibrating coil in each of the forms.

1. In ani electric cigar lighter, the combination of a standard, a lamp having a lamp wick and having spaced electrodes disposed to provide a gap in immediate proximity to the lamp wick,lamp cover means operatively connected with a fulcrum arm, a fulcrum arm `pivoted to the standard, a push rod member arranged to operate the fulcrum arm, means yoperatively connected with the ful-Crum arm for completing an electric circuit, .a primary circuit, a vibrating` coil, and a secondcircuit,whereby the make and break oftli'exprimary circuit induces a high .potential inthe secondary circuit to'produce a vibrating jump spark to-"ignite .the lamp wick upon operation of the push rod member, substantially as described.

3. In an electric cigar lighter, the combination `of a standard, a lamp having a lamp wick, .spaced electrodes in proximity to the wick, a removable cover, a vpivoted fulcrum arm-operatively .connected with the cover, a
