UNITED STATES PATENT GEEIOE.
DAVID H. GOBIN, OF SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN CHURNS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 129,471, dated July 16, 1872.
Specification describing a new Yand useful Improvement in Churning-Machine, invented by DAvTD H. GOBIN, of Springeld, in the county of Sangamon and State of Illinois.V
Figure 1 is a detail vertical section of my improved churning-machine. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of the air-pumps and its detaching lever.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention has for its object to furnish an improved churning-machine, simple in construction and convenient in use.
A is a bed-plate from which rise the posts B. The two posts upon each side meet at an angle, and to their upper ends are attached bearings C for the journals ofthe shaft D. E is the churn-body provided with a cover, F. In the bottom of the churn E is placed a screen, Gr, made of perforated sheet-metal, and to the edges of which is attached a light frame, H. To the opposite side-bars of the frame H. are attached the lower ends of two bars, I, which pass up along the inner surfaces of the churnbody E, and the upper ends of which project through holes in the cover F. J is the dasher having handle K. To the upper ends of the two parts of the dasher-handle K are pi-voted the lower ends of the two connecting-rods L,
the upper ends of which are pivoted to two cranks, M. N is the barrel of an air-pump the lower end of which enters the churn through a hole in the cover F. The upper end of the piston-rod 0 of the barrel N is pivoted to the lower end of the connectingrod P, the upper end of which is pivoted to the short crank Q formed upon the shaft D, so that the air-pump may be operated to force air into the churn by the revolution of the shaft D. The barrel N is connected with and supported by a lever, R, one end of which is pivoted to one of the posts B, and its other is secured to another of the pump-barrel N, piston-rod O and connecting-rod P, substantially as herein shown and.
described, and for the purpose set forth.
DAVID H. GOBIN.
