The head 1% preferably discharges by gravity through a flap valve 3+1. The purpose of having the tubes 19 and 21 suspended from bevel seated heads, each of a different diameter, is to permit easy removal of these parts. Each tube is shown as having a bail at its 11) er and. to )ermit a rab hook to engage it whereby to lift the tube and head from the shaft. The fact that the apertures in the partition plates 17 increase in diameter from bottom to top permits these beveled heads from below to pass through the overlying partition plates quite readily.
The elbow 16 is detachable from the pump head and shaft, and is, of course, removed when it is desired to lift the tubes from the shaft as above explained.
Various changes in the construction and arrangement of the several parts hereiir shown and described may be employed without departing from the spirit of my invention' as disclosed in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Pat out is: p r l. Inaliftpump,a shaft divided throughout its length into separate compartments, a vacuum tank, a vertical series of outlet pipes leading froni'the tank, a vertical series of valves connected to the pipes, suction conduits connecting the valves to the respective compartments, and adapted to be alternately connected to the respective outlet pipes and the atmosphere through the essons 3. ln av lift pump, a shaftdivided througlr out its length. into a plurality of separate compartments, each comprising an annular partition plate fixed in said shaft, a head having a beveled seat within said plate, a tube suspended from said head and a valve in said tube, and suction means communicating with each of said compartments.
